[Dorothy Cosplay] The Goddess of Victory at Xi'an Dreamland Anime Expo, a Strand of Lace and Soft Light

At the venue of the Xi'an Dreamland Anime Expo, the steel structure ceiling and floor-to-ceiling glass windows form a wide and bright space, which is just perfect for shooting today's set of Dorothy cosplay Cosplay convention photos.

When I first got this outfit the day before, I was immediately attracted by its texture that blends modern girlishness with traditional elements. The long pink hair looks much more delicate under the light than expected. The hair ends and the updo styling on the head took some time to handle, but I am very satisfied with the final presentation. The white improved cheongsam-style dress fits closely, and the cutouts on both sides of the waist keep the shape while making the overall lines crisper. The cuffs feature lightweight ruffles, which, paired with the light pink lining revealed beneath the skirt hem, adds a touch of softness to the originally simple white.

Thanks to the previous preparations, the focus of this shoot was placed on the coordination of props, light, and shadow. I prepared a wooden-handle white folding fan and a white lace parasol. These two items match the style of the entire outfit very well without ruining the cleanliness of the overall visuals. The first sitting pose was suggested by the photographer after entering the studio; the black metal step stool formed a sharp contrast with the white garment. Sitting on the stool with my legs crossed, the white stockings I wore featured lace trim, which just happened to create a visual focus at the bottom of the frame. At the same time, because the strong light from the floor-to-ceiling windows hit from behind, it outlined a soft backlight rim around the edges of my hair and the silhouette of my clothes, making this moment look very natural. The tassel of the folding fan hung by my hand, perfectly fitting the character's sense of lightness.

The second shot switched to a standing pose, mainly coordinated with the parasol. Since the lighting in this venue is sufficiently transparent, there was no need to force artificial light, making the visual tension brought by backlighting even stronger. The moment I picked up the umbrella, the skirt hem naturally spread out. Coupled with one lifted foot, the body's center of gravity shifted slightly, presenting a dynamic feel that is more lively than when sitting.

Since I participated in the event as an experience officer, the on-site environment was actually a bit more complex than imagined. Fortunately, the large areas of glass lighting were completely sufficient to showcase the texture of this outfit. The reflection on the floor is also a plus for this set of photos; the reflective stone floor mirrored the shoes, leg lines, and backlit silhouettes. My own makeup adopted an eye look that is slightly heavier than daily makeup, ensuring the three-dimensional feel of my facial features in a strong light environment.

I have always loved this kind of cosplay styling that has a structured silhouette without losing its lightness, and the presentation on site basically achieved expectations this time. Although maintaining the hairstyle and keeping the dress neat required constant adjustment, seeing the fusion of the pink hair and white clothing under the soft light environment in the final images—with details like white stockings, high heels, and the folding fan properly preserved—makes all the previous busyness worthwhile. This venue at Xi'an Dreamland is very suitable for shooting photos in such a bright style. Besides the routine anime convention experience, capturing high-quality texture through Anime-style photography is also an excellent gain.
