[Hyacinthia Cosplay] Amphoreus's Healing Wind

The photographer's lens froze this moment, and I had the privilege of bringing Hyacinthia of Amphoreus into the reality of the convention hall.

From the moment I got this costume, I kept thinking about how to recreate that fantasy texture belonging to Honkai: Star Rail in a real convention venue. The pink twin-curl wig on my head had to be naturally fluffy and seamlessly connect with the red-topped white fuzzy little hat. The deep red coat uses velvet fabric, reflecting different lusters under various lighting, and the golden embroidery echoes the white skirt with silver wave patterns. To match the blue bowknot at my waist, I also specifically adjusted the texture of the transparent sphere on the wand.

The absolute highlight was that pair of unfolded massive white wings. Even though the material was already lightweight, weaving through the convention crowd was still a significant challenge. Before shooting, I repeatedly confirmed the movements and positions with the photographer several times. Because the overhead lights in the hall were exceptionally bright, and the ground was covered with the gray carpet typical of exhibitions, a slight lack of attention would produce ugly shadows. Fortunately, the photographer cleverly used a large aperture to blur the white exhibition cars and passing audience in the background into soft, blurry bokeh spots, keeping the overall frame clean and transparent.

Facing the lens, rather than striking a deliberately forced pose, I preferred to express the character's life-filled yet gentle feeling. The moment in the photo where I leapt up on one leg was actually captured during a transition break. At that time, I was adjusting my skirt hem and happened to avoid a passerby, and the quick-witted photographer pressed the shutter. Looking at this photo afterward, the skirt hem is slightly raised due to the motion, the white tights and black platform shoes create a nice color contrast, and the wand is held firmly in my hand, as if about to cast a healing spell.

Many people who follow this character know her key phrase is "clear the clouds to reveal the sunny sky," which was exactly my true portrayal when shooting this photoset. With so many people and booths at the convention, taking clean solo photos is not easy. In this complex hall environment, I had to constantly change angles to avoid clutter and endure the exhaustion of repeated framing adjustments. But when seeing the final photos, where I wore this outfit with the pure white wings fully spread out behind me, wrapped in the red-and-white costume, I felt all the hard work was completely worth it.

For post-processing, we didn't use excessive special effects. We mainly focused on brightening the overall image, protecting the highlights on the white parts, and restoring the red saturation and velvet texture of the clothes. The water-wave-like sphere on the wand, the gold trim, and the pink ribbon knots are all clearly visible. Those subtle details, such as the embroidery on the collar and the silver wave threads at the bottom of the white skirt, represent the hard work of this costume designer and must be preserved in the photos out of respect for the outfit.

As a cosplayer, completing such a slightly tedious outfit at the convention venue—starting early in the morning to style the wig, tie the wings, and wear the platform shoes—places quite a lot of pressure on my shoulders and back all day. But when I met someone at the venue who recognized the character or heard someone softly exclaim, "It's Hyacinthia," that sense of accomplishment instantly washed away all fatigue.

This Amphoreus-themed photoshoot was mainly focused in a relatively quiet corner, which not only avoided the main crowd but also provided great natural lighting. To coordinate the composition's balance, I repeatedly adjusted the length of the wand and the opening angle of the wings for a long time. Many people think that convention photos are just a matter of "clicking" the shutter, but to capture a satisfying result, it requires silent chemistry between the coser and the photographer. For example, with that long blue wand, holding it too high would block my face, while holding it too low would make it lose its presence.

The figure in the photo, a silhouette of red and white standing in front of a pair of lightweight wings, might just be a regular enthusiast dressed up with unique ingenuity in the exhibition hall in reality. But within this square inch recorded by the lens, I felt as if I had truly stepped onto that land named Amphoreus. That wonderful cross-dimensional sense of time and space crossing is precisely the original driving force behind every carefully prepared set of Convention photos in our Anime-style photography.

The venue, the lighting, the attire, and the expressions are finally all in place. I hope that through the photographer's lens, those of you who love this work can see the small fruits of my dedicated preparation.
