This custom-designed take on Sandrone represents a fresh personal interpretation of the Fatui Harbinger "Marionette" (Puppet) from Genshin Impact. The inspiration behind creating this custom look originated from reading extensive lore studies about her; that icy, exquisite, yet eerily graceful doll-like presence felt endlessly compelling. Since official designs haven't revealed full garment intricacies yet, I chose to translate the impression in my imagination into reality. I selected a Lolita-maid foundation enriched with layers of lace trim and ribbon bows, anchored by an oversized bow across the chest printed with script-lettered satin ribbons, injecting a touch of vintage, gothic weight into the prevailing cuteness.
Addressing the wig styling, this silver-grey wig consumed the bulk of my preparation time. To achieve voluminous yet defined texture, I thinned and razored the fibers extensively, while curling the twin-tails section by section with heat irons. The bangs preserved a clean, blunt cut framed by elongated side locks to flatter facial contours. Balancing hair accessories was the most delicate hurdle: the lace headdress had to be pinned at a precise elevation to keep the head silhouette full without looking flattened.
Cosmetics served as the undisputed centerpiece of this project. To honor the Puppet lore, I selected luminous electric-blue contact lenses, granting the gaze an inorganic, otherworldly translucence. Bypassing routine earthy neutrals, eye makeup was blended with pinks and subtle crimsons to accentuate dramatic lower lashes, paired with glitter sparkles dabbed at the inner corners and lower eyelids. The base foundation was prepped porcelain-white, complemented by sweeping pearlescent mermaid-pink blush to craft an exquisite yet mask-like effect, finished with softly diffused pink lips to soften facial lines.
Lighting primarily utilized a warm-amber side rim light angled from the right, illuminating hair textures while sculpting gentle shadows across facial planes to add dimensional depth. I experimented with subtle, slightly mechanical body kinetics—such as gently grazing my cheek with a fingertip—aiming to channel Sandrone's singular aura through doll-like articulation.
There was an amusing incident during the shoot: near the end, a massive fluffy cat suddenly wandered into the frame—the very one in the photos—perching on a storage container and glaring at me. The wig and costume likely felt like a territorial intrusion, keeping its ears pinned back in airplane mode the entire time; as I shifted stances after wrapping a sequence, it hissed directly at me, resulting in that hilarious "spot the difference" cat-hissing capture mentioned earlier. Still, it proved to be a delightful on-set serendipity, and its blue eyes matched my contacts with uncanny coincidence.
I am quite pleased with the final imagery. While custom garments cannot replicate every canonical concept element, I hope this maid-infused gothic Sandrone offers everyone a fresh visual journey.
