Today, this official Sheng Cai'er cosplay photoshoot from Throne of Seal is finally here! Shot at the Chenxing Photography Studio, I took on the classic blue-and-white look of the Reincarnation Saintess. What captivated me most about this outfit was the layered tailoring: the form-fitting bodice in gradient blue is adorned with gold metal chains and starry gemstone accents, capturing both the ethereal aloofness of a saintess and the crisp agility of a warrior. The asymmetrical skirt splices lightweight gauze with satin; to achieve that sweeping, dynamic flow in the photos, we tossed and flared the skirt multiple times to find the optimal angle for this Fantasy style cosplay.
For the wig, to faithfully recreate Sheng Cai'er's iconic long silver-white hair, I sculpted a high crown at the forehead with side braids, paired with icy-blue contact lenses and shimmering eye makeup. The blue gradient at the outer corners of the eyes and the cool-toned lip makeup were chosen to reflect the character's detached yet compassionate demeanor. The headdress featured white floral accents and a silver band, harmonizing with the overarching palette. To better emphasize her facial contours in the dim, blue-purple ambient lighting without looking flat, I intensified the facial contouring.
The prop was an immense Long-handled scythe prop, possessing considerable physical heft. The weapon's craftsmanship was exquisite—a black shaft, intricate gold relief carvings, and sharp blue-tinted blade edges—holding it to pose genuinely tested arm endurance. In Photo 1's single-knee kneeling pose, balancing my center of gravity while holding the weapon horizontally in front of me kept my core intensely engaged. The sprawling stretch in Photo 5 was designed to display the flow of the skirt and leg contours; I selected strappy high-heeled sandals accented with feathers and crystals at the ankles. However, these heels were incredibly slippery on the reflective floor, requiring extra caution. Between takes, I carefully wiped fingerprints off the scythe with a microfiber cloth to maintain the cold, polished sheen characteristic of steel weaponry.
During the shoot, photographer Yu Chen demonstrated masterly control over chiaroscuro. We used ample rim backlighting to illuminate the silver-white hair strands, creating luminous halos along the edges, while placing a massive circular moon light array behind me. Combined with the haze machine and draped violet tulle, it produced an ethereal, cosmic dark fantasy atmosphere. On the floor, reflective materials were laid out to mirror the scene, enhancing depth and spatial dimension. I particularly want to mention the garment details: a diamond-shaped crystal plaque adorned the waist, and the crisscrossing leg straps elongated visual proportions while adding a martial sharpness. For the aerial leaping shots, we captured numerous bursts aided by crash mats; seeing the skirt fan out mid-air was deeply rewarding, and with celestial post-production star effects, the enigmatic aura of the Reincarnation Saintess was elevated to perfection.
The entire shoot was a wonderful collaborative journey, from fitting the costume and syncing on makeup to fine-tuning the studio lighting and perfecting poses. Sheng Cai'er possesses an unyielding resolve in battle alongside the serene halo of a saintess. In designing the poses, I strove to marry weightless elegance with martial power, hoping these images convey her icy, steadfast spirit in Throne of Seal.
