The event Convention photos from this Vesna appearance are finally sorted out. While the memories are still crisp and vivid, I wanted to document the on-site experience and the meticulous detail control that went into executing this look.
Let us start with the wardrobe and props. The garment is richly layered, piecing together deep navy, teal, and pure white textiles, complemented by a dense fur collar and copious metallic borders. The biggest headache was undeniably the massive set of iridescent holographic butterfly wings mounted behind my back. Because of their sheer wingspan, navigating the crowded convention aisles required immense caution to avoid catching on passersby's backpacks or booth corners. To anchor and support these wings, I wore two layers of under-bust corsets to disperse the load—honestly, physical fatigue and minor aches are simply the price one must pay for a show-stopping silhouette.
For the wig, I styled long pale-blonde curls interwoven with mint-green highlights. Such long curly tresses tangle notoriously fast on the convention floor, so before heading out, I re-curled the interior layers with a curling iron and saturated the fibers with anti-frizz conditioning spray. The ears were pointed prosthetic elf accessories, adhered using specialized dermashield wax and skin glue, with edges carefully concealed and feathered to withstand extreme close-up scrutiny on camera without giving the secret away.
Cosmetics were tailored to the teal-and-blue palette. The eye makeup made generous use of vibrant teal-green blending paired with mixed-heritage contact lenses. The base foundation relied on high-coverage formulas, because unforgiving convention hall lighting easily washes out makeup; if the complexion lacks clean coverage, unedited raw files end up looking dull and muddy. Lips were coated in a lustrous, glossy pink tint to introduce fresh vitality.
The shooting environment on site was rather chaotic. Overhead venue strobes are notoriously harsh, casting unflattering, stark reflections across facial planes and costume hardware. As a result, I prioritized scouting corners shaded by diffusers or framed by darker backdrops, utilizing the ambient venue lights strictly for rim and hair lighting. The photographer worked through numerous angles with me. The seated pose in Photo 1 actually put core strength to a serious test, as I had to balance the flare of the skirt, flatter the lines of the White tights cosplay, ensure the delicate wings behind were not crushed or warped, all while maintaining a pin-straight posture.
The reaching gesture in Photo 2 was a very spontaneous, special trial. A nearby booth happened to release atmospheric stage smoke, and I seized the moment immediately to shoot something with dynamic kinetic energy. Dropping onto one knee and extending my right hand outward as the haze rolled in yielded raw files with an astonishingly ethereal translucency. Managing such a dynamic pose required not only disciplined micro-expression control, but also careful tracking of golden chainlets and trinkets to prevent them from tangling together.
When donning such an ornate ensemble, preparation for convention photos must be thorough. I always pack a dedicated touch-up pouch stocked with blotting paper, setting powder, cotton swabs, and wig glue. Because white tights and light-colored garments easily pick up stray dust during breaks, I carry a small roll of clear tape for lint removal. Inner base layers must be breathable and comfortable—especially in summer or heavily heated exhibition halls, where heavy fur trims and tight corsetry induce sweat; a portable mini fan is an absolute lifesaver.
This event shoot proceeded smoothly and helped me amass practical know-how for adapting rapidly in chaotic convention environments. Every live shoot is a trial of stamina and improvisation, but seeing the tactile realism of the props and the cinematic light play in the final deliverables made the entire undertaking deeply fulfilling.
