The original intention behind shooting this Five Poisons Sect Cosplay was to recreate that character filled with Miaojiang exotic custom and mystery. From the custom-tailored stitching of purple mesh and black base fabric to the unique butterfly wing decorations on the shoulders, restoring the details is the step that requires the most patience in role-playing. Paired with exquisite silver forehead ornaments and tassel earrings, along with the iconic purple eyes, I hoped to get as close as possible to the classic image of the Five Poisons Sect in JX3 in front of the lens. For props, I prepared this finely carved staff; the purple butterflies entwined around it and the draping tassels present a distinct texture under the lights. During the shoot, we experimented with two different scene styles. One was sitting on the mirror-like surface of a water pool, paired with cascading wisteria flowers and the faint glimmer in the background, creating an illusory feeling of 'it is but a grand dream.' The photographer utilized a cyan-blue bottom light and a warm yellow top light to form a contrast between warm and cool tones, making the layers of this purple style outfit even richer. Combined with the bone chair and the misty tulle behind me, it added an atmosphere interwoven with mystery and gorgeousness. The other set focused more on movement, lightly looking back while holding the staff. The choice of lens focal length was highly critical; moderately retaining the blurred wisteria in the foreground can increase the depth of field layers. The high-slit design of the skirt hem perfectly showcased the leg lines. Paired with bare feet or simple transparent footwear, it kept the overall look clean rather than heavy. Because the outfit itself comes with intricate bead strings and straps, I tried my best to choose comfortable sitting positions or slightly turn my torso to stay flexible. The final color tone presented in the entire photo set is very romantic, making it one of my proudest recent works. The moment I put on this costume, makeup, and props, I could truly feel the character's unique aura, exuding traits that are both dangerous and charming, making for a wonderful exploration of ancient style photography.
