Portraying Shenhe this time, the focus was actually placed on the restoration of costume details and the overall atmosphere. In the photo everyone sees, I deliberately spread the outer coat outward, mainly to showcase the layering inside. The blue frog buttons at the neckline of this white Chinese-style top are a brilliant design, including the cutout on the chest; turning slightly sideways in front of the lens, combined with light and shadow, creates a strong three-dimensional effect. The bright blue cape worn outside has a high color saturation, forming a sharp contrast with the white inner layer, making it look visually refreshing. To make the cape's flowing effect even better, I also did shape-setting treatment on the edges; although it was quite a hassle to handle, the captured tension is indeed different.
Regarding the wig, Shenhe's white hair is a cool white with a grayish tone. To make the bangs covering the right eye look natural and not rigid, quite a bit of time was spent on early trimming and styling. I used hairspray and setting spray to repeatedly adjust the curve of the bangs, teasing the wig to have a slight fluffiness without being too close to the scalp, which makes it look more natural. The blue feather hair accessory on top of the head is made of a lightweight and translucent material, so that when walking or moving the head slightly, it can have a natural dynamic effect without looking too stiff. The ends of the hair were also treated with anti-static, trying to make them smoothly hang in front of the chest.
In terms of makeup, Shenhe's facial features lean towards being aloof and cool. This time, I focused on deepening the contours of the eye sockets and eyeliner, using grayish-blue contact lenses to echo the overall color tone, and the eye makeup was slightly upturned to add a touch of chilliness. The lip makeup chose a low-saturation nude shade, muting the aggressiveness of the facial features and creating that sense of detachment. To reflect the translucent texture of the skin, the base makeup was applied relatively thin, relying mainly on highlighter and contouring to shape the bone structure. To maintain this state, I deliberately applied a facial mask before the shoot to ensure the base makeup was sufficiently smooth and adherent.
The costume also has many accessories: the silver metal pieces and beaded strings at the waist, combined with the red knot element, form a strong contrast with the main white and blue color scheme. When taking photos, the hand gestures were slightly adjusted with index fingers slightly curved, paired with armlets and bracelets, making the overall posture look more dynamic and tense while also displaying the wrinkles and textures of the clothes. Aloofness and agility do not conflict in this styling; instead, through material contrasts, such as the softness of white tulle and the hardness of metal, a balance is achieved. The white tulle at the skirt hem is layered abundantly; although it looks a bit heavy statically, the photo output effect is great. During the shoot, the photographer also kept guiding me to adjust the sense of strength in my hands so that the movements wouldn't appear too rigid.
The overall presentation of this cosplay is quite interesting; many of Shenhe's iconic elements, such as the red ropes, white hair, and Chinese elements, are all embodied in this picture. The red rope is not only the character's bond, but also a very eye-catching visual focal point in the entire styling. If there is an opportunity in the future, I would like to try more different angles of light and shadow to showcase the texture of the costume even better.
