Shooting these Convention photos this time featured Shenhe from Genshin Impact. From a design perspective, this outfit is truly well-thought-out; in particular, the pairing of Leggings with a bare midriff turned a lot of heads at the convention, though it truly tests one's figure, requiring careful posture control. While the process was a bit exhausting, the final results made it feel thoroughly worthwhile. The convention floor was bustling and noisy, and the background boards were cluttered. Thanks to photographer Xuefeng's guidance, using the on-site lighting and gear to build a low-key dark ambiance, the subject was highlighted so cleanly. As for post-processing visual effects, especially the levitating blue-base talisman cards, the red lines overall, and the blue water dragon effect, they were painstakingly accomplished by retouching artist Tudou Jiaozhu. These effects fit the character's lore exceptionally well. Thanks to their meticulous work, Shenhe's crisp, biting aura was vividly brought to life.
Before shooting this set, I spent considerable time refining details—for instance, to recreate the character's traits, the wig was styled into distinct stranded locks, and I specifically brought red metallic cord knot props. Shenhe's costume has numerous details; the black Leggings feature a glossy sheen that flatters leg lines, adorned with irregular textures. To capture the flowing, airy dynamic, I had to pose against the wind several times while enduring the heavy weight of the wig on my head, striving to freeze expressions. What Convention photos dread most is a messy background. To achieve such clean composition, the photographer practically squatted on the floor to find angles, dodging pedestrians around us to recreate the aloofness the character should have. Compared to ordinary delicate outfits, this ensemble carries a colder, combat-ready edge, so I intentionally reined in my facial expressions to convey her detached stoicism and resilience.
I attempted poses like standing on one leg or looking back over my shoulder; while tiring, the resulting photos were great. On the day of the convention, wearing this outfit also demanded mindfulness of posture, as there were many golden ornaments on the Leggings that could easily knock or scrape while walking. To complement the combat atmosphere in the photos, I specially practiced how to hold the props. The dark blue-black hair paired with white fabric streamers and red tassels gave the frame richer layers. Currently, the final look of this set—both in composition and color grading—resonates strongly with the character. The shoot at the convention was very fulfilling; besides taking these photos, I also browsed the vendor booths. As the shutter clicks concluded, these wonderful moments were captured. Achieving such results owes real gratitude to the photographer's patience and the editor's fine retouching, who captured the character's soul so well. In fact, shooting characters that emphasize dynamic motion and fluttering requires substantial physical exertion; my arms felt very sore after wrapping this set.
