This shoot's theme centers around "The Forgotten Red Rose," combining vintage elements such as a wooden box, plastic film, a birdcage, and a large number of red roses to present the beautifully exquisite yet slightly lonely vintage doll atmosphere unique to the character Shinku from Rozen Maiden.

I am particularly satisfied with the details of this Lolita costume. The main body of the dress uses a wine-red satin material, which gives off a very soft sheen under the lighting. The large green bow at the neckline paired with that pink rose serves as a visual highlight, beautifully breaking the monotony of the red. The white lace at the hem and the cascading ruffles perfectly replicate the character's gorgeousness, while the matching black platform Mary Janes and white tights make the overall look more complete. The most impressive part is that ultra-long golden spiral-curled wig; although styling and wearing it took a lot of effort, when the final photos came out, it truly pushed that "vintage doll" feeling to the max.

The set was arranged at the No. 12 Garden Selfie Studio, which perfectly met our needs. We specially found a large wooden box as the core prop to simulate the feeling of being placed inside a cabinet. The inside of the wooden box was lined with deep red fabric, echoing the color of the dress while forming a great sense of spatial envelopment. To enhance the sense of mystery and claustrophobia in the frame, we tried covering the outside with a large sheet of transparent plastic film. When shooting the first photo, I pressed against it from behind the film; because of the blurred visual effect, it instead created a narrative of being "isolated" or "trying to break free."

We also strived for perfection with the props. The floor and the box were piled high with red roses and scattered red petals. Next to them were a vintage brown leather suitcase, a metal birdcage, and vintage letters pasted on wooden boards. Roses were also placed inside the birdcage; this imagery with a slight sense of confinement combined with the box perfectly fitted the themes of being "forgotten" and "serene." Whether I was holding that glass of orange juice or lying on the black backdrop holding a small mirror in my hand, they all enhanced the vintage feel of the frame beautifully.

Although the entire process required moving inside a narrow box and maintaining specific poses for a long time, which was indeed tiring, the shooting process went very smoothly under the photographer's guidance. From a photographic perspective, the light hitting the golden curls and wine-red satin created a strong contrast between light and shadow, offering excellent depth. Whether standing and looking directly at the camera, lying down and looking up, or reaching out through the plastic film, I feel we captured Shinku's elegant yet cold, exquisite yet somewhat fragile temperament.

This shoot was both the fulfillment of a cosplay wish and an exploration of Lolita-style photography. I love every single detail of this outfit, from Chaihu Baobao's makeup and styling to the on-site set design, and then to how we collaboratively figured out how to pose to express emotions—all of these processes were highly meaningful to me. Setting aside the character's own aura, I also really like the emotion and atmosphere of this set of photos, making it a very heartfelt creative share.
