The Touhou Project Reisen Udongein Inaba cosplay photos are finally complete. Given her profile as a 'lunar combatant who manipulates madness,' a lot of thought went into the costume, props, and shooting details to accurately capture that cool, detached, yet intensely imposing presence. First, the wig: Reisen's iconic pink-purple gradient is quite challenging to get right, as off-the-shelf versions often have unnatural transitions. For this wig, the roots are a soft pink that smoothly fades into purple at the tips. After trimming the bangs blunt, hair wax was used to set the strands on both sides during the shoot. To balance the weight of the plush Bunny ears cosplay piece on top, the inner wig cap was repositioned to ensure a full, natural crown shape. The makeup was centered entirely around the eyes. To highlight the 'madness' trait, vibrant red contact lenses were chosen, complemented by reddish-brown eyeshadow deepening the outer corners and an elongated, winged eyeliner. Paired with deep red matte lipstick and a clean, pale base, this created a sharp contrast against the green bamboo background. The costume details were equally refined. The gold trim along the black Military style jacket and the ruffled cuffs were ironed crisp beforehand. The red tie adorned with a gold chain serves as the focal point of the upper body, and the white collared shirt underneath required a stiff collar to support the sharp structure of the uniform. The leather belt at the waist had to be cinched tight to define the waistline and constantly checked to avoid slipping. The pink pleated skirt and double-breasted gold buttons below were essential details that couldn't be overlooked. As for props, while the black model firearm wasn't particularly heavy, holding it steadily in tense, ready-to-fire poses over long periods definitely wore on the arms. To achieve optimal composition for this anime character photography, the photographer used a medium-telephoto lens to blur the bamboo background and create greater depth. Dappled sunlight filtering through the bamboo grove added great atmospheric texture, though care was needed to avoid harsh direct glare affecting facial expressions. The body language throughout this shoot focused on 'aiming' and 'staring'—every motion had to be sharp and precise, with an unwavering, focused gaze, maintaining an upright posture even while seated to convey her formidable aura. This entire shoot provided a deeper connection to the original character design, crafting the persona through fine details and making it a truly rewarding creative experience.
