[Patchouli cosplay] The magician of Touhou Project, sitting on a pile of books to read is the real business - Image 1

This costume of Patchouli genuinely had a lot of thought put into its details, from the multi-layered ruffled gradient purple skirt hem to the mint green bowknot on the chest, and that iconic long hair and semi-rimless glasses. Every single spot is a dedicated effort to restore the magician who reads books in the Scarlet Devil Mansion's underground library. During the shoot, a stack of vintage hardcover books was specially chosen as a seat, which both strengthens the character's 'bookworm' attribute and concentrates the visual focus on the person. The photographer @Sanyue-de-ban captured the light perfectly; the semi-transparent gauze sleeve cuffs and skirt edges reveal a gentle sense of layering against the moody backdrop, completely bringing out that classical and dreamy atmosphere where Lolita style meets Gensokyo. Actually, the most interesting part of cosplay is touching the character's own temperament through costumes and props. Patchouli's calm, erudite, and slightly geeky feel is something I could immerse myself in when lifting that printed book. For this look, the wig underwent multiple rounds of trimming and styling to ensure the curvature of the bangs and sidelocks matched the original setting. In this whole set of images, I love this one the most because the posture is both natural and not rigid, and the book in hand serves perfectly as a visual anchor so the frame doesn't feel too empty. I hope to convey the serenity of this Magician of the Seven Elements to everyone, and it also serves as a rewarding summary of my makeup/styling and shooting results this time.
