[Kurumi Tokisaki Cosplay] Gothic Echoes of the Time Spirit

Preparing for this official Kurumi Tokisaki cosplay photoshoot actually took quite some time—from custom costume tailoring to fine makeup refinement, every step aimed to recreate that meticulously crafted temperament. This time, we chose an indoor venue in Shanghai with a rich vintage atmosphere, whose overall environment fit the gothic elements on this character extremely well. The venue featured a giant stained glass window where light filtered and refracted through, casting a wonderful intertwining feel of cool and warm tones on my body.

Speaking of the costume, this dress carries abundant details. The upper body adopts a black lace pattern spliced with an orange corset design, where a huge bow at the waist serves as the visual center with serrated black trim along the edges. To complement the overall look, red-and-black woven lace-up arm sleeves and neck accessories were custom-made, paired with transparent Black tights outfit styling and classic black Mary Jane shoes. The full outfit delivers both ornate visual effects and the character's signature dashing flair. During the shoot, I tried tapping into various states—holding up the prop guns made me feel like the spirit controlling time, while lifting the skirt hem in a split second revealed a touch of cunning and composure.

Lots of effort went into hair and makeup this time, especially selecting contact lenses. Heterochromia is a core visual identity—golden for the right eye and orange-red for the left, blended with dark eyeshadow to emphasize a slightly mischievous yet fascinating aura. The wig featured a highly accurate black twin-tail style, with bangs layered carefully to look translucent on camera alongside the base makeup. The photographer used light and shadow adeptly, capturing soft delicate textures while freezing the character's cool, alluring side.

In terms of prop prep, these vintage-styled flintlock guns were the soul of the look. The gun bodies underwent special aging treatment, giving them great weight and texture in hand—simple aim postures naturally carried a strong sense of narrative. During the shoot, beyond aiming stances, we tried various quiet gazing compositions. The side-profile gun-holding shots turned out unexpectedly amazing; originally intending just for dynamic motion, they naturally showcased arm lines and clothing layers, perfectly synergizing with the Black tights outfit and lace-up details for immense visual tension.

This vintage European indoor environment is indeed ideal for characters cloaked in mystery. Wooden pianos, carved sofas, white plaster Roman columns, and a warm-lit birdcage lamp in the foreground gave the entire set a filtered atmosphere. Though maintaining upright postures and straight shoulders while holding up the skirt to prevent dragging was tiring, seeing all details hit the mark during playback made everything worth it.

To capture that feeling of traveling through time crevices, we made slight adjustments during candid shots—such as letting bangs sway gently or adding a sharp glint to the eyes. This Gothic style cosplay combined with heterochromia setups required little heavy color grading in post-processing, as preserving original scene colors was rich enough. The Black tights outfit glistened beautifully under European warm lighting with a high level of completion, hoping this set conveys the dark, cunning, and captivating charm of Kurumi Tokisaki in Date A Live.
