[Nekopara cosplay] NEKOPARA Fitting Record

Putting on this NEKOPARA-themed costume, the first feeling is that the color scheme is so iconic. The pink-and-white plaid combined with a large area of white lace gives a very clean and refreshing overall visual effect. As a cosplay fitting, I focused on feeling the tailoring of the garment; the high waistline design can beautifully elongate body proportions, while the ruffled hem sits just above the knees, looking highly coordinated visually when paired with white thigh-high stockings and small leather shoes. The hair is deep chestnut-colored long hair, which, together with the pink wide headband and black cat ears, just neutralizes the contours of my face. When putting them on, the position and angle of the cat ears need to be meticulously adjusted—neither too high nor too low, otherwise it will affect the visual focus from the front.
In the first picture, I chose to sit on a low wooden stool, making a heart shape with my hands. The backdrop is a relatively minimalist home style, with soft natural light next to the floor-to-ceiling window, making the light and shadow transition on the white gloves and dress very natural. The heart gesture was made subconsciously while thinking of the character's lively and active personality setting; it feels like this action can beautifully convey the character's unique sense of vitality. While taking the photo, I deliberately tilted my chin up slightly, letting my gaze look down naturally through the bangs, so it wouldn't look too rigid. Adding the pink heart filter stickers in the picture perfectly matches the character's sweet atmosphere.
The second one is a half-kneeling pose facing the mirror, or rather, holding the phone for a selfie. Because the phone case happens to have a bear pattern, matching it with my slightly tightened composition makes the effect look more interactive. Blocking half of my face with the phone deliberately leaves a touch of suspense, focusing on displaying the state of this costume in motion, especially the pink lacing at the waist and the lace details on the cuffs. This crouching posture actually requires controlling the center of gravity well; after all, the skirt hem is quite fluffy, and it can easily make the legs look thick if the angle is wrong. I specially tilted the lens down slightly into a high angle and let the skin tone look more white and translucent through the refraction of light.
In terms of Maid outfit styling, I also noticed some ingenious details of this dress. The shoulder straps use white lace patchwork, which, paired with the white gloves, leaves almost no bare skin visible, but through the length of the short skirt and the connection with the stockings, it perfectly displays the leg lines. The overall sense of wrapping and skin exposure is well-balanced. Material-wise, the texture of the outer plaid fabric is stiff, which can maintain the flared shape of the skirt hem, while the inner white skirt hem uses a softer fabric, preventing creases even after sitting indoors for a long time.
The original intention of shooting these two photos was actually just to record the true state of trying on this character's costume for the first time. Therefore, whether it's the side-parting effect of the wig or the tightness of the ribbon bowknot on the headband, they were all finalized after repeated adjustments. I feel that restoring the character's agile yet slightly lazy temperament from the original setting in a real cosplay is quite a test of expressiveness—not only mimicking the actions, but the focus of the gaze and the arc of the hand gestures are also very important. Because it's a fitting session, I didn't deliberately prepare complex props or huge backdrops, but chose everyday wooden doors and wooden floors as backgrounds. This minimalist treatment instead completely focuses the viewer's sight on the character creation in this piece of 2D daily life.
Feeling very comfortable after putting on this full gear. After all, the fitting is the first step; as long as the underlying clothes fit comfortably without choking, one can maintain a better state later at anime conventions or outdoor photoshoots. After shooting, I also carefully checked the threads on the garments and the sturdiness of the accessories to prepare further for the official release. Overall, this fitting experience was quite spot-on. For the official shoot in the future, I might consider finding a place with a lawn or a Western-style house, which should be more atmospheric when paired with this pink cat-girl dress.
