The afternoon light in July was just right, spilling through the greenhouse's glass roof onto the wooden plant stands and white drapes, casting a lazy yet clean atmosphere. Here is a little record to go with this cosplay photoshoot. The blue and white outfit shines with extra transparency under natural light, where the vast lake blue combines with white lace and silver-gray trim, creating a visually refreshing feel.
My personal favorite aspect of this look is the asymmetrical leg design—one side features a pure white thigh-high stocking, while the other side extends into a lake-blue thigh-high casing. Combined with the high-slit cut, it beautifully elongates the leg lines in motion. The black patterns and gold metal buckle details on the white high-heeled boots also add plenty of texture to the overall outfit. The corseted waist section, adorned with dark piping and a golden crescent accent on the chest, cinches the waist tight, while wide, pleated cuffs impart a dimensional yet lightweight silhouette.
The headpiece pairs subtle shades of blue ribbons with curved white horns at the top, creating a lovely harmony with the flowing white hair. To make the eyes pop, the eye makeup was deliberately chosen in blue tones matching the outfit, combined with clear light-blue contact lenses to give a lively expression in front of the lens. The bronze vintage lantern held in my hand served as a key prop for this shoot; the blue hanging floral tassels beneath not only enriched the foreground of the composition but also infused a sense of dynamic flow into the look.
When shooting this set, we chose a semi-outdoor venue with greenery and glass structures. In an environment with relatively soft natural light, there was no need for harsh artificial lighting—simply adjusting positions to complement the ambient lighting was enough. The wooden frame and draped sheer fabrics formed rich foregrounds and backgrounds. The photographer utilized these elements for composition, capturing several distinct shots by switching between low and high angles. Among them, the sitting leaning pose has great compositional tension, displaying the leg lines and layered outfit details exceptionally well, making it one of my personal favorites.
Preparing costumes with so many accessories always requires on-site fine-tuning time. Take the handheld lantern, for instance; even though it's a prop, its real metallic texture and distressed finish created stunning light reflections under the sun. The slender chain of the lantern is quite delicate, so during posing, I had to ensure its natural drape while avoiding any pulling that might break it. Fortunately, friends on set assisted, making the photography process go smoothly. Even in the sweltering July heat, being surrounded by greenery allowed us to stay relatively comfortable throughout the shoot.
The entire photoset didn't rely on complex lighting setups, focusing instead on capturing the authentic light and shadow tones of the outdoor setting. Accustomed to strong artificial light in studio shoots, looking back at these natural light photos brings a refreshing sense of realism and vibrancy. The lace trimming on the dress and the sheer shawl naturally motioned in the light breeze; while not every frame caught the wind, that airy, transparent feel remains present even in still shots. The overall goal of this set was to capture the character's blend of sacred elegance and playful charm—especially when light filtered through the glass to build layers on the model and costume, creating an ambiance difficult to replicate in post-processing. The final cosplay photoshoot turned out right on target, and I hope this fresh outdoor style brings a comfortable visual experience to everyone who sees it.
