[The Shorekeeper Cosplay] Dali's Evening Breeze and Blue Water Surface, Freezing That Instant of Dynamism

Completed this set of The Shorekeeper cosplay shooting on the pebble beach of Erhai Lake in Dali. Rather than completely static poses, I prefer the vivid artistic feel brought by the wind during candid snapshots. The sky and water area here happen to be that low-saturation cool-toned blue-grey, which goes great with the transparent texture of crystal shoes. I was originally worried that the overcast day would make the whole photo set look too dull, but actually, this diffused light without direct strong sunlight is perfect for this blue-and-white gradient color scheme costume. This Dali photoshoot experience was wonderful.

The wind was quite strong during the shoot, especially for that layer of long ribbons, which are hard to unfold in layers indoors. Out by the open waterside photoshoot location, the wind blew them directly into very unrestrained arcs. In the third image, just as I lifted my leg, a gust of wind swept in, and the ribbons whipped up accordingly; that instant of dynamism and airiness was truly a pleasant surprise. Speaking of these transparent high-heeled mules, I was a bit afraid of standing unstably on the pebble beach before the shoot, but as long as I found the right support point, it actually brought a different kind of elegance, and the transparent heels also fit perfectly with the overall cool atmosphere.

I chartered a car with photographer Cx330 for a full day of Dali photoshoot accompaniment, and this set of photos was taken by the lakeside at dusk. The light transitioned very quickly, and the wind direction became very chaotic; the temperature had actually dropped a bit at that time, and the wind kept slapping hair onto my face. However, to capture the feeling of floating ribbons and the skirt hem flowing like water in the wind, we tried back and forth many times. To make the hood look naturally clutched in hand without blocking too much of the facial contour, the angle was adjusted quite a few times.

This costume's tulle and lace material is relatively light with good light transmission, but it's also particularly easy to get blown flat against the body by the wind, so I had to constantly rearrange it during gaps in the shoot. Dali's water surface has no big waves, only layers of very shallow ripples. This quiet framing paired with The Shorekeeper's light purple-blue hair color created a fairy-tale-like sense of tranquility. During the photo-taking process, many moments were actually missed because the wind direction kept changing. It required calculating the width of the wind blowing and the skirt flying, and finally obtaining this relatively smooth instant that clearly embodies the flowing lines of the skirt hem and ribbons made me truly satisfied.

The lightweight feel of the entire character styling combined with the elongation brought by the thick-heeled mules fits right into the environment in this frame. Recording this Dali trip with this set of photos, purely enjoying the slight coolness of the wind blowing across the skin at the moment of shooting, the rustling sound of the skirt hem rubbing, and the unique sense of peace by the waterside photoshoot. In post-processing, we didn't do any exaggerated color adjustments; we just preserved the inherently cool and melancholy blue tone to restore a tranquil yet elegant visual feel in line with the character's own temperament.
