The focus of this photoshoot is The Shorekeeper from Wuthering Waves. Because the character inherently carries a serene, gentle, and subtly mysterious aura, the entire concept for the wardrobe and makeup revolved around the sensation of the ocean and the breeze. To match the airy and dynamic texture of the original game design, I specially chose a Light blue wig with a soft, subtle sheen. The hair strands were groomed smoothly, and the gradient finish at the tips gave the entire head styling a natural sense of breathing space.
In terms of makeup, to harmonize with this aqua-blue keynote, I chose a clear, fair base foundation with the emphasis placed on the eye makeup. I used light-colored contacts to enhance depth and dreaminess in the gaze, while layering pearlescent blue and silver-white for the eyeshadow. For the lips, I opted for a natural juicy red to neutralize the coolness of the eye makeup, giving the overall facial expression a softer, more approachable look.
A great deal of thought went into selecting the garment materials. This white-to-blue gradient tulle dress features delicate lace and ruffle embellishments on the upper bodice, with a deep V-neckline paired with an exquisite necklace to elongate the neckline. Strappy bindings and cut-out details were deliberately incorporated at the waist sides and arms, lending rich structural layers to the airy, ethereal gown. The skirt utilizes multiple overlapping layers of transparent tulle dotted with fine sequins and glitter; whenever I adjusted the skirt or spun around slightly, the fabric refracted prismatic shimmering luster, looking exceptionally photogenic.
The headpiece is the very soul of this ensemble. I wore a custom transparent tulle veil with tiny rhinestones hand-sewn along the edges. Under the illumination of the lights, the veil exhibited a crystal-clear shimmering effect. The butterfly-wing hair ornament composed of a translucent frame on the right side of my head not only faithfully recreated The Shorekeeper's signature motif, but also elevated the ethereal grace of this Ethereal ocean cosplay. Furthermore, the wrists were adorned with sheer sleeves embellished with blue crystals, maintaining high thematic consistency.
The set design for this shoot was also remarkably distinctive. The backdrop utilized dark drapes hung with semi-translucent blue tulle to simulate the depth of the deep sea and shifting tides. Around the set, several faintly glowing blue fish ornaments, along with seashell and jellyfish props, were arranged to perfectly evoke the ambiance of a tranquil ocean realm alongside cool-toned studio lighting. In particular, the cool lighting cast across the light blue tulle dress and the Light blue wig created a soft, self-luminous halo.
During the shoot, to convey The Shorekeeper's presence standing and watching amidst sea winds and tides, the photographer guided me through various dynamic snapshots—such as gently lifting the veil with both hands or turning sideways to let the skirt cascade naturally. Because the fabric was so lightweight, every fluttering moment was gorgeous, though it also easily got tangled. To capture the finest moments, we had to repeatedly smooth the skirt hem and readjust the veil.
I truly love the cool-toned ocean fantasy aesthetic captured in the final photos. The character design of The Shorekeeper inherently carries a lonely yet resolute sense of vigilance. I hope that through this photo set and meticulous styling, everyone can appreciate the unique elegance and mystique of this character. For me, cosplay is not merely putting on a costume, but recreating that wondrous fantasy world of Wuthering Waves through light, shadow, props, and genuine expression as part of this Wuthering Waves Creator Incentive journey.
