On a June afternoon in the South, sunlight pours mottled shadows through the gaps in the leaves. Carrying that iconic rattan suitcase, I stand in front of this thick grove of trees in Dongguan. The shooting spot chosen this time blends the quietness of the forest and the openness of the waterside, perfectly fitting the everyday feel of an "ordinary hat shop girl" staying away from the hustle and bustle to get close to nature.

To restore the essence of this character, a lot of thought went into the vintage feel of the styling this time. A white woven straw hat with a loop of red ribbon forms a classic color collision with the dark green long-sleeved stand-collar top. The lace trim details worn underneath add a well-behaved sense of layering, while the white apron is the crowning touch of the entire look. A pair of brown leather lace-up short boots can not only cope with the outdoor dirt and grass but also add a touch of simple life breath. The thick, long single braid drops naturally; at this moment, it feels as if I have truly stepped into that world filled with magic yet ordinary and tranquil.

The photographer was exceptionally patient, taking us around the tree roots in the woods and the grass by the water to find the best angles. The light during the morning or evening "golden hour" is the most charming, which is exactly the source of the texture presented in these photo sets. Deep in the woods, we utilized the foreground blur of the leaves to create a peeping sense of depth; while on the open grassland, we decisively adopted a large-aperture backlight, letting the sunlight trace a soft golden outline around the hair strands and the edge of the straw hat. I feel that this Cosplay location shoot is not just portrait photography, but more of a dialogue between human and nature.

As a mutual collaboration (TFP) shoot, many times we are not just out for photos, but more to enjoy this process of moving from the city to the outdoors. When the breeze blows across the lake surface, bringing a moment where the skirt hem gently flutters, or when strolling through the woods carrying the suitcase, that state of mind immersed in the character radiates from the inside out. The fabric of the clothing presents a unique texture under natural light; even without complex backdrops, this lush green grass and shimmering water surface are already enough to endow this photoset with a film-like cinematic feel.

When shooting such a vintage pastoral style, the most important thing is to find an environmental atmosphere that fits the character. Those backlit silhouettes and wide-angle low-angle shots everyone sees are actually backed by countless micro-adjustments of angles and lighting. As a coser, although going on location in heavy clothes causes some sweating, the moment I see the light, shadow, and clothing perfectly merge in the photos, all the hard work vanishes into thin air. The healing and tranquil atmosphere under Hayao Miyazaki's animation has been beautifully materialized in this green expanse of Dongguan through this Pastoral style photography.

On the technical side of photography, this set mostly relied on natural light. We didn't use any fill lights, relying completely on the side-backlight of the setting sun to shape the three-dimensional feel of the face. Special attention goes to that spinning candid capture on the lawn, which makes me feel the dynamic motion of the skirt hem and apron flying in the wind is full of vitality. The rattan suitcase is also a crucial prop; it is not just an accessory, but the core of the storytelling sense of the entire look.

Actually, wanting to produce a good location shoot is not easy, especially when running or performing actions on the grass while holding a suitcase; one needs to manage expressions while maintaining balance. The friendly collaboration photography for this set truly helped me a lot, allowing me to focus on immersing myself in the character without worrying about too many complicated matters.

Every time I flip through the unedited photos, I can see the appearance of that "girl" under different angles. There are shots of resting quietly under the tree roots, and also of gracefully spinning around on the lakeside grass. Compared to magnificent and complex indoor studio shoots, this simple style integrated with nature touches me even more. The character herself loves handcrafts and life; this setting resonates with my longed-for slow life philosophy, enabling me to better understand and portray this ordinary yet warm character.
