The Convention photos and post-production composite edits for this Honkai Impact 3rd Kiana Herrscher of Finality shoot are finally all wrapped up! Shooting convention photos at a Shanghai expo is honestly quite tough: the ambient lighting is chaotic, overhead lights paired with glowing booth signboards easily cast odd shadows on the face, and the background is perpetually swarming with passersby. Fortunately, luck was on our side that day—we located a relatively open corner and captured raw candid frames that gave us solid material to work with.

The wardrobe details on this Herrscher of Finality outfit are extremely intricate. The white chest armor, the purple floral accents at the waist, and the gradient arm sleeves were quite painstaking to put on. The wig and beast ears got messy after just one lap around the convention hall, meaning I had to carry a comb at all times to smooth down the side bangs. Though the oversized weapon prop was made of lightweight EVA foam, its massive scale still caused my hands to tremble after holding it for a while. I also applied a heart-shaped tattoo decal, which, paired with the eye makeup and colored contact lenses, helped capture the character's signature aura.

Due to the on-site environmental constraints, I opted for heavy post-production composites to evoke the cosmic grandeur and commanding pressure of the Herrscher of Finality. Masking out the subject was the first major hurdle—cutting out hair edges and semi-sheer wings was pure trial and error. To craft the cosmic starry sky backdrop, I sourced moon and meteorite assets, calibrating the color balance to lean toward cool violet and deep ethereal blue. For the wings on my back, I used the pen tool to isolate their contours and overlaid pink-purple glowing layers to recreate the sensation of flowing divine energy. Light particle fragments were brushed in by hand to inject dynamic motion into the composition.

Participating in the Dimension Traveler Project this time served as a wonderful archive of my ACG lifestyle and a truly distinctive experience. While I usually stick to Convention photos, taking a dual approach here allowed me to preserve both an authentic documentary record of the convention floor and a high-impact cinematic finished set. For Honkai Impact 3rd and Kiana fans, this Herrscher of Finality form is unmistakable. If anyone plans to shoot this look, my top tip is to bring a portable mini fan—the armored bodysuit gets uncomfortably stuffy. Additionally, make the weapon prop modular in two detachable segments; otherwise, hauling it inside a convention hall is an uphill battle.

When compositing, prioritize seamless blending between subject and background so the cutouts don't look artificial. Adding subtle optical glow to the highlights harmonizes beautifully with the cosmic stars and meteorites, bringing the mood alive. I hope to catch great weather and lighting again next time to keep creating more satisfying Anime-style photography work.
