"Commander, would you like some good stuff~" This time I'm sharing a Goddess of Victory: NIKKE Sora cosplay photoshoot. In order to present an atmosphere closer to the character before the lens, detailed planning was done for the makeup, styling, and scene design during the preparation phase.
First, talking about the makeup and hair, this time I selected the iconic black twin-tails paired with straight bangs, adorned further with red colored contact lenses. To project the character's calm yet slightly disdainful demeanor, the eye makeup was handled very clean and crisp without excessive fancy colors; the heavy focus lies in transmitting her unique temperament through the gaze and the reflection of the red eyes. In terms of accessories, the black choker on the neck and the light blue neckerchief add some layered contrast to the otherwise large areas of the blue coat and white inner wear, preventing it from looking monotonous.
For the clothing details, it is mainly this navy blue blazer jacket. The inner layer is a tight white base shirt; due to the reflection of the studio lights, its texture and contour beautifully modify the body shape. The outer garment has a rigid texture, requiring repeated adjustments of the collar and hem to accommodate the suspension of those small props inside the jacket and on the waist. The wide black leather belt at the waist is one of the visual centers, and the metallic texture of the belt buckle is highly invigorating. The most distinctive feature is the hanging gadgets inside the coat and on the belt, including a transparent card holder, several mini medicine bottles, a yellow gold coin pouch, and a pen. The high level of recreation for these small items completely turns up the character's feel of being a "walking armory" to the max, providing many interactive focal points when posing.
The lower body is paired with classic white opaque tights and black pointed high heels. This white tights and high heels combination beautifully brightens the lower half of the frame against the pure white studio backdrop, visually elongating the leg lines. The soles carry a trace of dark red; though not frequently exposed, it becomes a subtle highlight during movements at certain specific angles.
The venue for this shoot is a pure white backdrop wall with a circular platform; this clean and minimalist color palette perfectly highlights the navy blue of the costume and the character's facial features. A lot of prop hundred-dollar bills were intentionally scattered on the ground to create a casual story vibe of "treating money like dirt." I tried a round of several postures presented in the photos. In the first image, kneeling on one knee while flipping open the coat, cooperating with a "come on" hand gesture, creates a sensation of actively showcasing logistical support supplies to the Commander, making it one of my more satisfying shots. The second photo adopts a lying-down composition; the bills scattered all over the floor paired with a casual body stance beautifully express the character's laziness and free-spirited nature, while the gaze perpendicular to the lens adds a touch of unique freshness to the frame.
The fourth and sixth images attempt a kneeling posture handing over banknotes and a deep squat on the high platform respectively. The deep squat movement is actually quite a test of form and balance, but combined with the white tights and high heels, it maximizes the presentation of leg lines and power. The fifth photo, sitting on the platform with a finger pointing at the lens, carries an interactive tension of "you have entered my firing range." These variations in posture all aim to inject some of my own casual and playful feel while maintaining the character's original personality.
The studio lighting on the day of the shoot was ample, using relatively bright softboxes to minimize highlight spill, thereby perfectly capturing the textures of the white shirt, white tights, and black high heels. The blue and white uniform style's jacket exhibits a beautiful luster under the intense light. During the shoot, I slightly adjusted the position of the gold coin pouch inside the coat to ensure it wouldn't look bloated or fall out due to the movements. Although there were many props, fortunately, they were hung securely and basically didn't affect the execution of my poses.
The overall output results exceeded my expectations, especially with this kind of daily attire carrying a touch of a commercial bodyguard or secret agent style. Against the backdrop of calm expressions and scattered money props, it leaves immense room for plot imagination. If there's an opportunity in the future, I might shoot a night version with low illumination or special light sources, since this character's setting holds more narrative depth in dark light. The above is all the content for this cosplay photoshoot; hope this makeup/styling and shooting approach can bring a slightly different visual experience to fellow fans who love this type of style.
