Starring in this Honor of Kings Xiao Qiao Original skin cosplay for "Breeze of Love," there are many details worth sharing about its recreation. Everyone might think the original skin is the most classic and basic, but in reality, making such a seemingly simple pink-themed styling look high-quality actually requires more thought in prop preparation and hair and makeup design. The wig was specially chosen in a matte light pink material so that there wouldn't be any abrupt reflections under the lights. The two bun heads on top and the braided ropes on both sides needed repeated adjustments to the tightness of the hair styling to look fluffy yet secure, ensuring the fullness of the look from all angles.
For the makeup, I chose an eyeshadow color palette that echoes the pink wig, using red-brown eyeshadow to deepen the contours of the outer corners of the eyes. Paired with light-colored contacts featuring a subtle red rim effect, it makes the gaze look more ethereal, beautifully fitting Xiao Qiao's pure yet slightly melancholic trait. The dark brown halter neck collar is made of leather material, creating a textured contrast with the metal-like clothing fasteners.
Regarding the shooting location, we specially looked for a Chinese-style environment with wooden railings and bamboo blinds. The background is dotted with flying bird paintings and origami screens, together with a large area of pink, white, and purple floral arrangements in front, making the entire space atmosphere very soft. During the shoot, I focused on using that giant pink folding fan as the visual weight balance point of the entire frame, finding the character's rightful sense of laziness and agility between hand movements and facial expressions through various folding angles.
This plum-red robe not only utilizes a fabric with subtle dark patterns but also features a bright-colored trim along the edges. The sleeve cuff design is a semi-detached style, requiring continuous adjustments to make it drape naturally on the arms. Throughout the process of this Cosplay photoshoot, I coordinated with the photographer to try sitting, standing, and various fan-holding actions. The frozen frames in the pictures are all attempts to materialize the character's posture and temperament. In particular, the dark brown halter collar and the cutout cuffs of this outfit beautifully accent the neck and shoulder lines when posing.
As a Cosplay photoshoot centered around restoring the game character, we hoped to present the most authentic visual state of the character. The material selection of the clothing is very exquisite, requiring both the texture of the fabric and the ability to reflect that subtle sheen under the light and shadow. This is my attempt to interpret the character of Xiao Qiao from Honor of Kings in the real world.
