Right after shooting this set of dress-up trial photos, I'm here to share my wearing experience with this Miaowu Cosplay costume of Lappland the Decadenza from Arknights.
When I first laid eyes on this outfit, what attracted me most was actually its color palette and layered styling. The black glossy leather jacket, combined with that striking red semi-transparent cape, perfectly achieved the cool and slightly commanding effect I wanted. Many people might think that 2D anime costumes look cartoonish or unnatural in reality, but once actually worn, its structural support and visual slimming effect are beautifully executed, instantly channeling the character's confident and cold vibe.
First, let's talk about the materials and details. The black leather jacket doesn't feel like cheap, thin plastic at all, but rather like a glossy leather with a solid thickness. Especially under indoor lighting and reddish ambient lights, the reflection on the leather is gorgeous, beautifully highlighting a crisp and sharp temperament. The gray faux fur on the shoulder is a definite highlight, which I specifically mentioned in the post—it has a highly rich volume, feels incredibly soft to the touch without any messy or cheap feel, and is stitched next to the rigid shoulder armor, forming a wonderful contrast of soft and hard textures. The red-and-blue gradient tie on the sleeve is also highly textured, with layered gold chains and metal buckles underneath. The metallic feel of these accessories is outstanding, far from those cheap plastic-plated parts that easily fade.
Next, I must give a major shout-out to the cut. As mentioned in my post, it is incredibly slimming for the waist and elongating for the legs. The jacket is a waist-snug, cropped design, and with the arrangement of silver metal buttons, it visually pulls up the waistline significantly. The leather skirt on the lower half is not a plain straight cut, but features a 3D tailored design with some pleats and vertical stripes. Standing at 166cm and wearing a size M, the skirt is indeed a bit short, reaching about the upper thigh area. However, considering the requirements of a photoshoot and posing, wearing a pair of color-matched safety shorts completely solves the issue and even adds more layers to the overall styling. I especially love that black thigh ring; decorated with a golden printed totem, its elasticity is just right without squeezing the skin, and combined with my skin-tone leggings, it visually makes the leg lines look exceptionally slender.
The cape of this outfit is undoubtedly the soul accessory of the entire set. The red semi-transparent mesh cape is fully printed with golden subtle patterns and designs, with tassels adorning the edges. Since the fabric is relatively lightweight, the cape flutters beautifully behind me when walking or whipping it around. At my current height, the length of this cape drapes beautifully near my ankles. I can already picture how breathtaking the photos will be if we shoot at an anime convention or a studio, capturing a snapshot of the cape flying as I swing it, or sitting on a high place letting the cape naturally spread out.
During the trial, I also gathered a few tiny tips. Although this outfit has numerous details, putting it on isn't overly complicated. The necklace and tie at the collar are securely fastened, so there's no need to worry about them shifting when making larger movements. The shoulder armor design fits the body curves perfectly, ensuring it doesn't restrict my shoulders when lifting my arms to draw the sword or strike a pose. The only thing to keep in mind is that leather garments can get quite muggy in the summer, so I'd highly recommend shooting in an air-conditioned studio if possible.
Overall, this not only highly restores the red-and-black battle gear features of the character but also delivers a premium texture in both cut and materials. As a trial record, I didn't wear the wig or hold weapon props, simply pairing it with a basic white shirt as a simple Cosplay outfit, yet the overall structure of the costume is already robust enough to carry the character's temperament. Finding a Cosplay outfit that is both cool and flatters your figure is truly rare. Once my full wig and weapon accessories are in place for the official outdoor cool photoshoot, it will undoubtedly look incredibly grand. I can't wait to lock in the shoot schedule with my photographer!
