For this commissioned shoot, I chose to portray Dorothy from Goddess of Victory within a deeply atmospheric classical Chinese setting. The overall visual tone unfolds from her iconic themes of "salvation" and "destruction." The extreme pull between black and white creates a fascinating contradiction within this character, and my task was to embody that nuance through styling, makeup, and body language.

Let's talk about the overall styling first. For the hair, I selected an eye-catching long curly Pink wig with high color saturation. Rather than softening it into something everyday, I wanted to preserve that dreamlike, high-tension 2D aesthetic. The crown and sides were adorned with matching bows and dimensional floral ornaments, accented with silver-toned metal butterflies and bead chains to ensure the headpiece looked rich and multifaceted. For makeup, I deliberately deepened the eye contours—upturned eyeliner paired with a translucent base and soft pink lips sculpted an expression that seems pure on the surface, yet holds an undercurrent of scrutiny and playful mockery.

The wardrobe required tremendous effort. The main white dress combines a high collar with semi-sheer tulle, with the bodice and cuffs embellished with delicate floral embroidery and lace paneling. The crown jewel of the outfit is the multi-tiered ruffled hemline and fringe detailing, which create a weightless, flowing elegance whether moving or seated. The cropped skirt length, paired with a White silk thigh garter and white plush high heels, brought out a touch of playful allure while maintaining her regal grace. Delicate metallic chains around the neck, wrists, and ankles added an aura of ornate, refined restraint to the look.

For props, I specifically chose a semi-sheer round silk fan and a thread-bound ancient book. Holding the fan heightened her languid elegance, while leafing through the book resonated with the concept of "verification"—patiently searching for answers across time. For the third shot flipping through pages, we experimented with poses repeatedly: half-kneeling on the wooden daybed while looking back required keeping the layered skirt naturally draped while extending leg lines and accessories comfortably toward the camera, demanding precise physical control.

The shooting environment offered exceptional backdrops for Traditional Chinese style photography. Traditional dark wooden lattice screens and hanging calligraphy scrolls filled the background, while warm yellow paper lanterns cast soft, narrative lighting across the space. The ambient glow, paired with foreground bokeh of green leaves and red plum blossoms, crafted a sense of timeless displacement. The collision between a 2D character and vintage Chinese elements always yields a distinct aesthetic charm.

When collaborating with the photographer, we prioritized emotive eye contact. When turning pages, I looked away from the lens toward the text, embracing a bookish and cool atmosphere; when looking back at the camera, my gaze shifted to that lofty, subtly disdainful yet patient expression. The final photos captured that signature charm—gentle on the surface yet hiding dangerous insight—interpreting a mesmerizing Dorothy cosplay vision of the Goddess of Victory within a Chinese dreamscape.
