[Dorothy Cosplay] GODDESS OF VICTORY: NIKKE Modified Qipao Convention Photos Record

Finishing this set of photos in the exhibition hall of the Firefly ACG Expo, I'll take advantage of the break while organizing the photos to talk about the styling preparation this time. This time, I chose a modified white lace Qipao. Compared to the form-fitting tailoring of a traditional Qipao, this top retains the Chinese stand-up collar element but heavily utilizes sheer tulle and lace patchworks. The sleeves are slightly puffy ruffled sleeves, making the arm lines loom faintly while looking highly lightweight. The waist features a hollowed-out design adorned with pearl chains, concentrating the overall visual weight on the waistline. The lower skirt hem adopts multi-layered irregular cutting, with the height of the side slit reserved just right, showing off the legs without breaking the overall balance. To match this outfit, the corresponding wig selected a highly striking bright pink long straight hair style, with braids and hair buns crafted on both sides, decorated with pearl and white flower-styled hair accessories. Paired further with blue-purple contact lenses, it strives to stay close to the original character's sweet yet slightly mysterious aura in terms of color and details. In terms of props, I specially customized a large-sized transparent lace umbrella; when the canopy spreads out, it possesses highly distinct lace textures, which plays an excellent soft-light role under the strong top-lighting environment of the convention. Additionally, it's paired with a round white lace fan adorned with three-dimensional white flowers and pink-white ribbons. Whether held in front of the chest or held in hand during a single-leg standing posture, it beautifully enriches the composition.

There were many convention attendees on the shoot day. To avoid the crowds, we specially found a corridor with a deep background. The photographer used a large aperture to blur the silhouettes of people behind and the distant escalator, excellently isolating the character from the complex live environment. Looking back at this set of cuts, I think the standing posture ones were controlled quite well. Especially the one standing on a single leg while holding the umbrella: the center of gravity falls on the left foot, with the right foot slightly lifted. This dynamic posture naturally elongates the leg lines, and the white thigh-highs outfit and the high heels with pearl straps on the feet coordinate beautifully, presenting the details of both the white stockings and the shoes clearly in the frame. The one closing the umbrella and lifting the skirt hem leans more towards elegance; the ruffles and lace of the costume showcase an excellent drape under this relaxed stance. The sitting and semi-kneeling frames utilized the round fan, bringing the fan near the side of the face or placing it by the leg, making the gaze and expressions the core of the frame, which also allows the cute temperament of the modified Qipao to be better released.

In terms of makeup and styling, to coordinate with the pink wig, the eyebrows were intentionally lightened, and the eye makeup only used a faint pink base along with exquisite eyeliner without excessive heavy colors, thereby highlighting a clean and translucent style. Although the overall styling this time features many accessories, because the primary color scheme is restrained between white and pink, it doesn't look cluttered. When conducting cosplay photography at a convention site, the most important point to note is the selection of live lighting and background. We utilized the large transparent umbrella to block the directly shining spotlights, making the facial lighting softer while using the ground reflection to bring out the texture of the clothing. Although standing for half the day in this dress and thin high heels was extremely exhausting, seeing the details of the tulle, lace, and white silk clearly preserved in the photos makes the effort feel completely worth it. For friends who love modified styles and dreamy color tones, this kind of pairing is actually highly practical for daily photography as well—especially the combination of the round fan and lace umbrella, which is simply a magical tool to elevate the frame's atmosphere.
