My favorite part is actually the leg and foot details: the pure white stockings are sewn with 3D small bowknots, paired with black chunky-heeled platform shoes edged with plush fur at the top, immediately bringing out a rich sense of layering.
The most headache-inducing part of this cosplay photoshoot was definitely the wig. As I mentioned in the post description, I spent a whole week crafting this anti-gravity wig. Hatsune Miku's twin tails are already quite large, and with the exaggerated oversized bow tied at the top for this rabbit dress, the weight and volume placed extremely harsh demands on the wig's structural support. To make it stand sturdily, I repeatedly adjusted the internal bone structure using wire and sponge, fine-tuning the volume and flick angle of the hair over and over again. Although the process was agonizing—especially when adjusting the fit curve where I constantly had to take it off and restart because it went crooked—seeing the final piece hold a beautiful arc in front of the camera made that week feel entirely worth it.
For the shoot, we specifically chose a studio backdrop filled with vintage aesthetic. Stained glass windows, European carved chairs, a red velvet tablecloth, stacked vintage cake stands, and white porcelain tea sets came together to make it feel as if stepping into a fairytale world. Holding a white rabbit plushie and a vintage hand mirror as interactive props, I sat on the chair relaxing into various poses while the photographer seamlessly captured that lazy yet playful atmosphere. Light filtered through the stained glass onto my face, complemented by side rim lighting that preserved the translucent feel of the turquoise hair strands, instantly elevating the overall quality of the set.
Even though current trends in the community might lean towards massive studio setups or outdoor scenery, I've always felt that a cosplay's harmony with its environment is paramount. Putting on this outfit and sitting in a room so rich in story, the mood came naturally without having to force poses. Many people might think this kind of vintage studio shoot is no big deal, but only when you personally prepare the hair, coordinate details, and communicate lighting with the photographer do you realize how intricate the entire process is. As a beginner cosposer, I've been learning step-by-step through each shoot, mastering how to adapt to different camera lenses based on outfit styles.
This shooting experience was also a great way for me to unwind. Free from rigid rules, I could simply put on clothes I love, step into a room that felt like the 2D world, empty my mind, and immerse myself in the character. I might be somewhat reserved in real life, but wearing this outfit and striking those poses gave me a genuine sense of confidence and elegance. What I love most about this dress is its balance between cuteness and maturity; paired with the white high stockings, it retains the character's pure vitality while subtly embedding a sense of design.
Every time I look at the final photos and recall the process of trimming the wig stitch by stitch or repeatedly discussing angles with the photographer, I feel that all the tedious preparation was immensely rewarding. Even in static images, a lively spirit shines through. I also enjoy researching small styling and makeup tricks on my own; for this shoot, I intentionally chose soft, clear tones for the eye makeup and lip color so they wouldn't overpower the look, perfectly echoing the sweetness of the dress.
