Putting on this Hanasakigawa Girls' Academy uniform and standing on the waterfront boardwalk, I am completely filled with this sense of daily life. Today, I met up with the photographer for an Outdoor shoot by the open water. The air carried moisture along with the gentle light characteristic of the evening, and this 70-180mm lens paired with the α7C II body beautifully captured this translucent texture.
The focus of this Anime cosplay was to recreate Sakiko Toyokawa's slightly cool yet completely natural girlish feel. The wig is a highly iconic ice blue, and the striped hair accessories on both sides are the soul of the look. For the outfit, I chose a beige fitted blazer jacket and a yellow-green plaid pleated skirt, paired with just-the-right-length olive green socks and brown loafers. This JK uniform has a very slim fit, which not only fits the character's setting but also creates a beautiful dynamic aesthetic as the skirt hem and hair ends lift while walking in the outdoor breeze.
We shot all along the coastal boardwalk, from a posture of leaning against the railing to gaze at the water, to looking back while walking on the wooden floor, to a relaxing moment sitting down on a wooden bench—every movement stayed as close as possible to the state this character would normally be in. The light right before wrapping up was exceptionally soft, with the sky showing a boundary of light blue and pale pink reflected on the water surface, full of atmosphere. During the shoot, the photographer kept guiding me, telling me to be more relaxed and not to pose intentionally. A daily-oriented Cosplay photoshoot is often most touching in this unconstrained state.
Although this outfit looks very casual, actually wearing it—especially walking all afternoon in thick-soled loafers—was still a bit tiring. However, seeing the images presented in the viewfinder makes me feel that everything was completely worth it. As a Sakiko Toyokawa coser, I love her hard work and the resilience hidden beneath her calm exterior, and I hope to convey this feeling to everyone through the lens this time. I plan to preserve more of the true colors of the ripples and the sky during photo editing to make this photo set look more natural.
