[Misumi Uika and Toyokawa Sakiko Cosplay] Ave Mujica's Marionette Duo Cosplay Interpretation

The shooting theme of this set of photos is "manipulated puppets." In the visual aesthetics of Ave Mujica, they often carry strong theatrical physical expressions on stage, and the setting of this duo lens is to emphasize this marionette-like fragility and precision.

During the makeup and styling phase, to reflect the coldness and contrast in the character settings, I chose the classic color schemes of the two characters, blue and gold. The blue-haired character's costume uses relatively stiff red satin patchwork, forming a sharp material contrast with the black and white tulle skirt hem. Meanwhile, the blonde character utilizes a brown leather corset to tighten the lines, and the black long gloves give excellent texture feedback under the light source. This distinct clothing layering is one of the core points we wanted to present for this BanG Dream! cosplay.

In the adjustment of duo collaboration movements, we adjusted the control of the center of gravity multiple times. Since it is "manipulated," it shouldn't showcase that power-filled muscle tension found in conventional duo dances; instead, the arm joints need to maintain a subtle state of relaxation. The action of lifting hands in the frame and the misaligned overlapping sightlines simulate the frozen moment after being pulled by strings. During the shoot, the warm yellow wall lamps in the indoor background provided excellent ambient light, making the characters' cool-toned wigs and the black, white, and red clothing stand out even more against the soft-focus backdrop.

To capture this natural yet distanced atmosphere, my partner and I repeatedly fine-tuned the landing points of our gazes. Whether it's that touch of melancholy and resistance in the blue gaze or the upward curve of the blonde character's lips, we strove to restore the inner perception of the characters being drawn together yet binding each other. We chose a spacious indoor open space for shooting, utilizing the floor's reflection to increase the compositional extension, making the tension of the entire frame fit the stage play atmosphere better.

For this kind of story-oriented duo cosplay, the hardest part to grasp is actually finding the balance point between daily demeanor and dramatic tension. We carefully adjusted clothing details, such as the pleat treatment of the skirt hem and the buckle position of the belt, to ensure that under the foreground blurred by a large aperture, the focus remains on the characters' facial expressions and the contours of the costumes. The final effect presented by this set of photos perfectly aligns with our interpretation of the core concept of "manipulated puppets" in our BanG Dream! cosplay practice.
