For this summer travel themed shoot, my partner and I cosplayed Wakaba Mutsumi and Sakiko Toyokawa from Ave Mujica respectively. To make the characters look light against the summer background, we abandoned the relatively heavy original styles and switched to white tops with ruffles and lace elements, paired with wide-brimmed straw hats. In terms of makeup, summer outdoor shoots fear makeup melting the most, so I applied a very thin base makeup, focusing on using a lot of setting spray and loose powder. The eye makeup retained the signature brown contact lenses; under the sunlight, this light eye color has a very clear and translucent texture. Styling the wigs took a lot of effort; Wakaba Mutsumi's light green long hair and Sakiko Toyokawa's light blue long wavy hair easily frizz and tangle under outdoor high temperatures. Before going out, we soaked the wefts in cold water, sprayed anti-frizz care solution, and combed them smooth bit by bit with a steel comb to maintain the basic fluffiness during the shoot.
We chose an indoor room with a vintage wooden cabinet, lace curtains, and shelves as the shooting location. The large white rabbit doll wearing a geometric vest in picture four is actually a very heavy plush prop. When I held it and posed with both hands clenched into fists, my arms had to secretly exert force all the time. However, this shot turned out very interesting; adding the words "god-level synchronization" in post-production made it look extremely vivid. When shooting outdoors, lighting was a challenge; the direct afternoon sunlight was dazzling, and the brim of the straw hat cast heavy shadows on the face. We found a red brick wall and pink flowers as a background, used a reflector to fill in light for the faces, and utilized the cool-toned wigs of light blue and light green to form a color contrast in front of the warm-colored brick wall. To capture a natural sense of interaction, the two of us held ice cream, leaned against the wall, constantly adjusted our positioning, and checked from time to time if each other's wigs were frizzy. Sweat soaked the collars of our clothes during the process, but seeing the photos with clear light in the camera made persisting in the high temperatures worth it. Overall, this set of photos did not deliberately force gorgeous or exaggerated styling, but rather hoped to record a leisurely, daily state of them in this summer.
