[Shiroko Sunaookami Cosplay] Refreshing Memories of the Summer Poolside

When shooting this Blue Archive Shiroko Sunaookami Summer swimsuit cosplay, it happened to coincide with the hottest period of this summer; the sun over the outdoor pool was glaring, and the air was thick with shimmering heatwaves. To faithfully recreate the refreshing and lightweight visual texture from the game, considerable dedication went into the entire shoot.

First, for hair and makeup, the essence of this styling lies in the silver-grey short bob with straight bangs, accessorized with black-and-white plush animal ears and the iconic light blue crosshair halo on top. To prevent these props from looking overly plastic under intense sunlight, we gave them a matte finish so they would blend more naturally with the outdoor lighting. For the outfit, the black, blue, and white color-blocked one-piece swimsuit featured a streamlined cut with a matte texture, avoiding excessive glare while highlighting body contours with authentic clarity. The loose blue-and-white athletic jacket offered versatility; we choreographed numerous poses utilizing the jacket—such as wearing it off-the-shoulder—to enrich the frame with a relaxed narrative charm as an Anime girl.

The shooting environment that day was blessed with clear, bright skies and exceptional light translucency. By the outdoor poolside, reflections from the water surface served as a natural fill light, so overall exposure didn't need to be harsh. We used a Sony A7R5 camera; its high dynamic range excelled in bright light, preserving highlight details on the background walls while rendering the azure pool water with absolute purity, all while keeping skin tones soft, luminous, and free of blown-out highlights. In location staging, the white arches, perforated walls, and lush background greenery provided wonderful front-to-back depth of field in this Cosplay photography session.

Regarding posing and guidance, to break away from the stiffness common in cosplay, I strove to immerse myself into the poolside setting in the most relaxed state possible. In Photo 1, splashing water while sitting on the edge took several bursts to get right—balancing hand tension with the trajectory of falling droplets; the refreshing touch paired with a smile naturally conveyed pure joy. In Photo 2, reaching outward required extending the entire silhouette; controlling muscle tension was trickier than imagined to avoid looking rigid. In Photo 3, standing on one leg with an arm raised high demanded core strength to balance while letting the jacket flutter, yet it exuded vibrant summer energy true to an athletic Anime girl. Photo 4 beautifully showcases the swimsuit's complete texture: standing centered with grounded balance, slipping the jacket casually to the crook of the elbow, with a slight head tilt, natural eye movement, and gentle body language. In Photo 5, the backward glance created an engaging sense of dialogue in a still frame.

Although the theme of these photos is summer, by the time they are released, autumn's chill has already set in.
