From test makeup to shooting, this elevated look for Skadi the Corrupting Heart took more than half a month of arduous work. To keep the metal thorn structure of the headpiece stable, steel wires and hot melt glue were embedded inside. Combined with the fluffy volume of the wig, once put on, the entire center of gravity shifted to the top of my head, requiring extreme caution even with slight head turns. While the off-shoulder dress design looks beautiful, every time I raised my hand to hold the staff or lantern, the shoulder straps tended to slip, forcing us to adjust their position over a dozen times during shooting. What gave me the biggest headache was the pair of over-the-knee boots: I usually wear size 35 shoes, but these prop boots came in a standardized size 39—a full four sizes too big! To prevent my feet from wobbling inside the boots, I stuffed two layers of shoe lift inserts and thick socks inside; I didn't even dare take large strides while walking, terrified the boots would fly right off. The metallic parts of the weapon staff were quite heavy, making my wrist genuinely sore when holding it up one-handed for close-up shots, but to maintain an upright, posture-perfect stance, I toughed it out through several sets of takes. The prop setup in the scene—featuring a white cross, iron fences, and skulls—exuded incredible atmosphere under the deep blue key light, while the pink orb inside the lantern featured built-in variable LED lighting, producing a surprisingly translucent effect on camera. This time, the photographer used side-backlighting to highlight the texture of individual hair strands, casting a cool-toned halo along the edges of the hair extensions that made my whole presence look even sleeker and more aloof. The crisscross straps on my thighs were actually elastic bands; to fit the leg contours properly, the tightness had to be re-adjusted every time I put them on or took them off, leaving marks after prolonged wear—though this happened to fit the character's sense of restraint perfectly. During the session, we also tried a few sitting poses on the floor: with black velvet fabric and faux moss spread across the ground, sitting down allowed the skirt to fan out and expose leg lines with the staff laid horizontally across my front, creating a well-balanced composition. Overall, I would rate the completion of this Cosplay photoshoot an 8 out of 10, leaving the remaining 2 points for future optimizations—for instance, the metallic weathering on the headpiece could be aged further, and the lantern strap could be replaced with leather cord instead of the current cloth ribbon.
