This set was captured at the beach. Early on, despite clear ambient lighting, direct sunlight caused squinting, so I repositioned to harness side-backlighting for a luminous hair effect. Paired with the floral hair ornament and halo, the look required an airy, weightless poise. Designing the prop scheme—beach sand, black tea, and a wine glass—added rich environmental flair. The clear glass refracted sunlight beautifully, becoming the visual soul of the shoot as we fine-tuned angles to capture those refractions through droplets of water.
Wearing long white hair extensions and paired white wings posed the greatest practical challenge. Strong seaside gusts easily tangled strands, while the wings needed constant repositioning to stay firmly mounted. Styling the wig with woven braids prevented it from plastering across my face in the wind. For makeup, matching the character's cool, ethereal aesthetic meant keeping foundation pristine, using a natural pink lip tint, and pairing pale contacts to keep the gaze focused under intense sun. The skin's radiant sheen in the final images was carefully balanced during post-processing.
The high-cut one-piece Swimsuit placed extra emphasis on body lines. Dark fabric tends to absorb light and become an underexposed silhouette without specular highlights, so the photographer used reflectors to cast subtle rim reflections across the fabric. A white lace cover-up layered texture over the dark swimwear. In poses like sitting directly in the shallows, surface ripples created shimmering reflections that lengthened the leg line. Sitting in chilly tidal wash for ten minutes was physically demanding, but capturing that moist coastal glow made it worthwhile. Staying relaxed and channeling the character's calm, languid grace turned simple beach photography into an authentic portrayal.
