[VALORANT Team Building] Jett and Omen Assemble at Guiyang Anime Convention

At the anime convention in Guiyang, local VALORANT players held a massive offline Valorant team building meetup. Speaking of cosplay preparation, let me start directly with equipment and physical stamina. To recreate Jett's agility in the game as much as possible, this Jett cosplay outfit used breathable yet sturdy fabric, topped with a tactical vest and straps. For the wig, I specifically trimmed the bangs and sideburns the night before to make it look sharper. Since Jett is always in a state ready to dash or fly in the game, that playful yet sharp vibe would feel very off if the wig texture wasn't right. The prop weapon in hand was also refined repeatedly; although it can't actually fire, the spray paint and decal details strictly referenced the texture of in-game store skins. Playing around with it in hand, the weight distribution felt very reasonable, so my wrist didn't get too sore after walking around the convention all day. The eye patch over my left eye was cut from acetate board and fit very close to the skin, remaining sweat-free throughout the afternoon—which is crucial for someone who sweats easily like me.

The absolute highlight of this team building was my teammate doing Omen cosplay. That fully enclosed blue glowing helmet and shoulder armor added quite a bit of physical resistance against the already stuffy venue. But the effect after putting it on was mind-blowingly cool, especially when the blue-green LED lights inside the visor lit up—the sense of mystery and intimidation immediately burst forth. To keep the armor stable, the lining was actually secured with a metal frame and Velcro straps, making a slight squeaking sound when walking, which happened to fit Omen's shadowy vibe. Walking behind him, the turn-around rate was maxed out. Passersby on site kept wanting to stop for taking photos with cosplayers at conventions. When asked, we realized it wasn't that the whole group had scheduled a photoshoot together; instead, everyone wandered around separately, and then with a tactical command or a group message, everyone returned to position within ten minutes. This kind of tacit understanding truly proves us to be VALORANT players.

After spending days prepping equipment, the most stress-relieving moment was holding up the banners. This time, we custom-made two red banners with yellow lettering. One read, "My awkwardness needs an inseparable lover, but my VALORANT match needs 5 standing-still enemies," and the other read, "The first twenty-five shots are just a warning; the next twenty-five are a complete joke." When taking group photos holding these two banners, many passersby pulled out their phones to shoot, shouting that they understood the meme. Anyone who has played VALORANT understands that this humor is filled with tears—especially the "first 25 shots are a warning" meme, which perfectly fits those hilariously bad gunfight moments in game. The pain of watching your opponent stand tall while you miss every shot completely is something only fellow players who have experienced this game can resonate with across the screen.

The ultimate highlight of offline convention team building is its social aspect. Meeting many players on site who specifically flew in from other provinces, even if our in-game IDs had never queued together, as soon as we exchanged a piece of tactical slang or saw a character badge pinned on someone, the atmosphere instantly warmed up. I even saw a passerby in casual clothes with a small backpack holding a toy sniper rifle. Just as I was hesitating whether to ask for taking photos with cosplayers at conventions, talking to him revealed he was a Diamond-ranked veteran in ranked matches, who even took time to share his recently practiced sniper positions with us. This feeling felt even more real and warm than opening the mic in voice chat in-game. Our entire team had around a dozen people—some in charge of photography, some handling logistics and water, and even someone specifically tasked with holding up the banner so it wouldn't sag. This sense of teamwork truly extended virtual-world coordination into reality.

To be honest, I used to attend conventions often, mostly solo or just wandering around with two or three friends. Having a team building experience with dozens of people sharing a unified theme, color scheme, and style was truly a first for me. From entering at 9 AM to wrapping up at closing time in the afternoon, although the soles of my feet were aching endlessly, the satisfaction of being recognized by fellow VALORANT players and passersby is beyond words.
