[Clover cosplay] Black & Pink Subculture style in VALORANT: Studio Photography behind-the-scenes

For this VALORANT Clover shoot, I specifically selected an entire subculture style outfit to match the character's persona. The core theme revolves around a black, white, and pink palette: a sheer black short-sleeve top over a pink camisole, paired with a pink-and-black plaid maxi skirt. On the lower half, a combination of black fishnets and pink striped thigh-high stockings, complemented by signature thigh rings and knee pads, visually elongates the leg proportions while channeling a Y2K street edge. The hair and makeup featured a horned short black wig accented with silver hairpins. Pink eye makeup was diffused over a wide area and paired with light-colored contacts, drawing inspiration from the character's cold yet dreamy allure. Adding black-and-pink striped lace arm warmers and a cross necklace completed the overall look.

The shoot took place in a pure white studio. Key lights were set up directly in front and from the sides, making it effortless to accentuate silhouettes against the white backdrop. The photos shared here are photography behind-the-scenes—some are candid snaps captured head-on by the photographer, while others are mirror selfies taken while adjusting my poses. When snapping in the mirror, using the reflection's perspective—squatting, holding the camera with one hand, or reaching out—helped create depth and avoid rigid framing. To bring out the best in this outfit, I referenced classic subculture modeling poses: leaning slightly forward with feet apart while standing, or neatly arranging the skirt hem while squatting to let the fishnets and knee pads accentuate the leg lines. The front shots captured by the photographer had fantastic depth, and my mirror reflections looked equally dynamic, showing off our great teamwork.

The outfit boasts rich details, particularly the fringes and chains on the skirt that created wonderful movement as I walked. As behind-the-scenes snapshots, these images keep the real presence of light stands and cables, serving as an authentic memory of the day. Between shots, I carefully checked every accessory's placement to prevent awkward shadows under the studio lights. The black sheer top did not clash against the white background; instead, it added visual depth. The interplay of pink and black is the soul of this look. Combined with the pink fishnets and leg rings, it looked photogenic straight through the viewfinder, needing minimal retouching to pop.

Throughout the shoot, we aimed for candid realism—capturing both the character's cold elegance and the rebellious edge distinct to subculture fashion. Many pose and styling details were finalized after repeated adjustments. Post-processing focused on preserving the raw texture of the images, lightly tuning skin tones and the monochrome contrast of the environment to make the subject stand out and keep the outfit's tones clean, faithfully restoring the character's essence.
