The night session lighting at the Guangzhou Blue Archive Only Event that day was truly perfect for shooting dark-toned gowns, so I decisively chose a Kuromi Serika cosplay gown look. This outfit has so many details; the lace at the neckline and the bow decoration at the waist are very exquisite. Paired with her iconic cat ears and pink halo, it brings out a complete black-cat-style girl vibe. During the shoot, we chose a very eye-catching blue Anime Itasha as the background. The windows and car body featured a Hina wrap, forming a clever color contrast with Serika's black gown. The nighttime ambient light also brought out the purple reflections of the car paint, pushing the atmosphere to the max.

The photographer was very particular about the lighting setup, avoiding stark white flashlights and instead using soft light combined with ambient colors so that the texture of the black stockings and the wrinkled layers of the skirt hem could be clearly presented. Poses like leaning against the wheel making a finger heart as seen in the photo, or standing while slightly lifting the skirt hem, actually required slight angle adjustments to make the dress flare out naturally. The hardest part of shooting a gown is maintaining the fluffiness of the skirt hem while not messing up the positioning of the cat ears; since the cat ear props are very prone to deforming, they had to be handled with gentle care every single time.

After finishing this set, I feel that dark-toned characters are truly expressive, especially in night scenes where just a tiny bit of light can trace out the silhouette. Although I stood in high heels for a long time, seeing the final results made me feel that everything was completely worth it in this Blue Archive related Night portrait photography project.
