[Jeanne d'Arc cosplay] Fate/Grand Order: The Tipsy Saint

Shooting this photo set was an exciting challenge in itself.

To match the Tipsy vibe we aimed to express, I chose to lie directly across the rough wooden tabletop. This angle demanded a lot from the styling—the Silver long wavy hair wig needed to be styled with natural volume and effortless disarray, cascading down the edge of the table to convey a casual, relaxed mood. The deep Purple dress in velvet had an exceptional sheen under the spotlight, and pairing the black lace neckline trim with long evening gloves made the overall silhouette far more elegant.

For props, we prepared a rich variety of items: a black mug by my side, vintage-packaged liquor bottles, and scattered ice cubes. To properly hold that bag of ice cubes, I tested multiple poses—keeping the graceful lines of my wrists without letting the ice melt quickly onto the dress, all while maintaining a facial expression balancing between hazy daze and lucid clarity.

Because harsh, direct hard lighting (similar to direct flash) was used, the shadow edges across the frame were very sharp, sculpting facial contours cleanly from the side. In managing my expressions, I tried to keep my gaze somewhat detached with lips parted slightly to bring out that unique, tipsy, dreamy quality.

This reclining overhead perspective required immense core strength; to naturally display leg lines without letting the skirt look bulky, I had to stay tensed and engaged for extended periods. Though lying on the table for so long was tiring—requiring constant micro-adjustments of head and hand positions to prevent stiff expressions—this deliberate control successfully captured a hint of mystery within the character's languid state.

The gaffer coordinated wonderfully; the front key light paired with the bottle reflections on the table crafted an intense ambiance. The color contrast between the Purple dress and the silver-white hair also looked stunning on camera.

The overhead composition gave the facial and body proportions a striking visual dynamic. I switched through several poses before finding my most photogenic angle. The photographer provided professional guidance on how to fold and cross my legs to elongate their silhouette, and how to relax shoulders and neck to avoid stiffness. The black backdrop made the main subject pop, while the wood grain of the table added tactile depth. The liquor bottles arranged tastefully around me enhanced the drunken scene. After shooting, I tidied the wig; the texture of Silver long wavy hair significantly impacts the overall aesthetic.

What I loved most about this shoot was the unpretentious atmosphere—the cool setting, sharp lighting, and casual reclining pose came together perfectly to realize our vision.

Choosing a Purple dress was also because it flatters skin tones, and its slightly reflective velvet fabric gives it a rich, premium texture. I deliberately adjusted the chest bow, which, combined with the long gloves, elevated the ornate look. For eye makeup, reddish-brown tones were chosen to echo the tipsy mood, creating a vivid contrast against the cool silver hair.

For shoots with hard lighting and relaxed themes, emotional investment matters more than posing mechanics. The sensation of cold ice slowly melting in my palm helped me sink into that tipsy, slightly irritable or weary emotional state.

Bringing all elements together—Silver long wavy hair, the Purple dress, liquor bottles, long legs, and this subtly daring posture—everything was captured crisply by the lens. Overall, it was a deeply challenging photoshoot and a truly special Fate/Grand Order cosplay experience for me.
