A double cosplay of Raiden Shogun and Yae Miko from Genshin Impact—this time, my bestie and I arranged this Narukami Group look. Before the official makeup test, we actually discussed the fabric of the costumes and the colors of the wigs for a long time. The main body of this Raiden Shogun cosplay outfit features a spliced structure of purple and white, with tons of details on the waistband. To recreate the stiffness and drape from the game, a fabric with a certain thickness was selected for the main body. The most time-consuming part was actually her thick, long dark blue braid; whether it was the layered hair extensions or the fluffiness at the roots, it posed a quite significant challenge for wig styling, which we ultimately solved by layering multiple hairpieces to handle the tiers. Yae Miko's red and white shrine maiden uniform uses bright vermilion and pure white fabrics, and her fox ear hair accessories and neck decorations also underwent some DIY processing, hoping to match the character design to the maximum extent.
During the process of taking mirror selfies, since we had to simultaneously look after both of our positioning and the framing of the phone camera, we tried several different standing poses. In the end, we found that a lower camera angle actually elongated the leg lines, making Yae Miko's geta sandals and the Shogun's platform heels look more coordinated. Throughout the shooting process of this outfit, we tried our best to recreate the unique aura between the two characters with natural movements. It is not just about the costumes, but more about the visual balance when the two are in the same frame. The difficulty of a double collaboration actually lies in the distribution of the composition—who is at the visual center and who plays the supporting role—but guided by the characters' personalities, this primary-secondary relationship was actually very easy to determine.
To reduce reflections, we turned off the overly bright indoor ceiling lights and utilized the diffuse reflection of light from outside the window. The full-length mirror has a relatively large surface area, which gave us enough space to showcase the hems of the outfits and the shoes. What I'm quite satisfied with are the jacquard patterns on the clothing and the tassel details on the cuffs, which were all beautifully preserved in the photos. The joy of doing cosplay lies not only in putting on the clothes of a beloved character, but also in sharing the happiness with a friend after such a meticulously crafted process; while the results are certainly important, the experience of preparing and trying things out together is where the fun lies. Such a double combination always is filled with special memory points for Genshin Impact fans, and I hope our level of restoration can make everyone feel the charm of these characters in this casual cosplay log.
