This shoot took place on an outdoor Summer beach. The sunlight was intense and the sand highly reflective, making in-camera metering quite challenging. To prevent facial blowouts, I adjusted exposure compensation on set and pulled down highlights during post-processing to keep skin tones looking luminous and translucent. The trickiest element of this Anime girl styling was securing the feather-like prop at the waist; it easily broke immersion, requiring concealed clips and constant angle checks across both seated and standing poses. The long pink curly hair proved tough to manage in the coastal breeze, though this hybrid Sailor suit and swimsuit looked right at home on the shore. Walking barefoot across the coarse sand was quite painful, but staying in character meant pushing through. During framing, the photographer directed me to use wooden crates and a blue-and-white lifebuoy in the foreground to enrich the composition and lengthen the visual proportion of the legs. Low-angle upward framing effectively flattered leg lines, and subtle perspective correction was applied later to keep facial features natural. In post-processing, messy background foliage was removed and the white balance was fine-tuned to preserve the warm sand tones while introducing a cool, airy undertone that harmonized with the pink hair. Reflectors played an essential role in softening harsh facial shadows and adding crisp catchlights to the eyes. Shooting on the beach also meant constantly cleaning blowing grit from the lens and adjusting camera settings as passing clouds shifted the ambient light. Despite dealing with overexposure, rigging fixes, and shine, smooth communication with the photographer helped bring this Shimoe Koharu cosplay to life with authentic skin texture and a grounded, atmospheric finish.
