Clear weather paired with the brick-and-stone pavement of European architecture, along with perfect natural light, always brings a great sense of atmosphere to this Grinning Professor outfit. The light on the shoot day was quite intense, but fortunately, the shadows could add depth to the scene. Recently, many people have been asking about the accuracy of this character's recreation. Today, taking the opportunity to share these outdoor photography photos, I'll also chat about the concepts behind the makeup and styling.
This black sailor-collar suit I'm wearing paired with a white wig not only avoids looking too heavy under outdoor sunlight but actually displays the lines and style of the clothing more clearly. As for props, the standard black long-handled cane and vintage suitcase are the soul of the entire look; holding them makes it easy to immerse oneself in the character's calm elegance. For the venue, we intentionally chose a place with classical columns and a pool plaza, as the inherent stability of the architecture perfectly fits the character's mysterious tone.
During the shoot, the photographer suggested trying more angles like walking, sitting down, and looking back, which is why everyone will see both static moments on the steps and dynamic shots of moving forward with the suitcase. These attempts were all to make the character come alive in front of the camera as much as possible. I always believe that doing cosplay is not just about wearing the right clothes, but more about understanding the character's expressions and habitual movements. The character of Grinning Professor has an elegant yet detached trait, so I deliberately controlled my expressions, avoiding overly exaggerated facial expressions, and combined with the support of the cane and the weight of the suitcase, worked hard to materialize that unhurried composure.
During post-processing, I intentionally preserved the real skin texture and only did slight color adjustments, because the natural light of a sunny day is the best filter in itself. Lastly, everyone is eagerly looking forward to the implementation of the "peach-flavored kid," and I've been waiting for the official release of more information. Currently, there is indeed no concrete intel, so I can only use this completed set to fill the waiting time. Here, I'd like to thank @适量魚 who appeared in the shoot and the photographer for their seamless cooperation, hoping these few photos filled with light and shadow can bring a good mood to everyone.
