[Takanashi Rikka cosplay] Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions: The Tyrant's Eye is the Strongest!

This Takanashi Rikka cosplay based on an Original setting achieved a high level of finish, so I'm mainly sharing details from the photoshoot and post-production compositing process. Because it's an Original setting, instead of using the standard school uniform from the source material, I coordinated this black-and-white ensemble. A white short-sleeved ruffled shirt is paired with a tiered black pleated skirt, with the cat-paw print on the necktie serving as an eye-catching touch. To highlight Rikka's mysterious yet youthful persona, the lower half features black Over-the-knee socks paired with platform Mary Janes, creating a sharp silhouette that visually elongates the legs.

For hair and makeup, dark purple contacts paired with black twintails and yellow bow hair ornaments faithfully recreate her original character design. The pose chosen was her classic gesture pointing diagonally upward with one hand; combined with her signature facial expression, it acts as the soul of this entire set. Holding this pose during the shoot was physically demanding: to maintain balance and dynamic tension throughout the body lines, the angle of the waist had to be adjusted repeatedly to keep curves flattering and natural.

Post-production was the most time-consuming phase. To achieve the visual effect of the real cosplayer overlapping with 2D character artwork, I sourced corresponding illustrations for the layout. After posing in front of the camera, the illustration character in the back had to align precisely across the spatial relations of the arms and legs, producing a striking sensation of breaking through dimensional barriers. To complement this tension, onomatopoeia sound-effect lettering was added along the left side, mimicking a dynamic manga panel.

The shoot took place outdoors before a plain gray wall, where the clean backdrop made the subject stand out sharply. In the outdoor sunlight, the Over-the-knee socks caught subtle highlights with great texture, though they absorbed heat quickly. Naturally, honoring the character's premise in Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions, this Original setting costume still needed to preserve her distinct blend of eccentricity and cuteness. The final framing applied a tilted Dutch angle, an unconventional perspective that injects liveliness and dynamic energy into the overall image. That pretty much sums up the preparation and workflow for this Original setting shoot.
