This Halloween limited edition Takanashi Rikka styling put a lot of thought into everything from costume details to scene arrangement. The purple-and-black color scheme of this witch outfit perfectly matches Rikka's usual color preferences, but the overall tailoring incorporates a large amount of Gothic lolita elements, enhancing the overall texture quite a bit. The upper body's black strapped corset design paired with a purple short shawl not only increases visual layering, but also flatters the shoulder and neck lines nicely. To restore the character's traits, I deliberately made asymmetric arm decorations: the left arm wears a black long glove with red ribbons, while the right arm is wrapped in white bandages. This closely matches Rikka's daily chunibyo setting as a holder of the "Tyrant's Eye", as if ready to seal away some dark power at any moment.
The white stockings on the legs were also carefully selected; not only is the material form-fitting, but they also feature spliced yellow stars and diamond patterns, paired with classic black-and-white Mary Jane shoes. This preserves the mysterious feel proper to a witch while adding the playfulness and cuteness unique to a two-dimensional girl.
In terms of makeup and styling, to match the wearing of the eyepatch, the base makeup was done quite cleanly and translucently, and the exposed left eye wore highly pigmented blue contact lenses. Rikka's signature single-eye eyepatch chose a lightweight material style, which won't bring too much pressure to the bridge of the nose even during long-time shooting, and the stitching details on the edges are also very pleasing to the eye. The deep purple wig was trimmed with layers, retaining the slightly messy short hair texture of the character, and the hair ends were slightly curled inward to make the face shape look smaller.
The construction of the shooting scene was completely built to match the Halloween atmosphere. We used a large number of plastic jack-o'-lanterns, real haystacks, and vintage rattan-woven armchairs, and placed white plush rabbits, silver vintage tea sets, and black spider webs in the corners as accents. The lighting design that satisfied me the most: strong cyan-green cold light was projected onto the background window, forming a distinct cold-and-warm color block collision with the warm-orange pumpkins in the foreground, instantly giving the entire frame the eerie and gorgeous feel of a magical world.
In terms of action presentation, to fit Rikka's severe chunibyo personality, I didn't choose a simple obedient sitting posture. Besides leaning against the back of the chair with a slightly lazy gaze, I also designed poses of spreading my arms and slightly bending my ten fingers to imitate spell-casting, matching the line "Trick or treat". That posture carrying a bit of tsundere and slight aggressiveness maximized the theatricality in the character's personality. Not only was it a great shooting experience, but it also made me feel once again the unique vitality of a chunibyo girl.
