[Hanayo Koizumi cosplay] Love Live! Cheongsam Awakened Spring Outdoor Shoot Archive

I finally sorted out some photos from our April Love Live! Cheongsam Awakened outdoor shoot; looking at them now, they still carry a strong springtime atmosphere. The main highlight of this outfit is the modified cheongsam silhouette: the upper half retains the classic mandarin collar and frog buttons, while the lower half transitions into a light, breezy tulle skirt. Paired with cheongsam with white tights and black knee-high boots, it not only creates a visually light feel but also wonderfully accentuates the leg line. The sunlight was quite strong on the day of the shoot, especially in the early afternoon as light filtered through the leaves across the garden, creating a natural light-leak effect that added a built-in soft glow filter to the raw images.

To make this set truly stand out, we scouted multiple spots beforehand. For instance, the composition on the steps holding a folding fan in the third photo was actually quite demanding on core control. Pointing the toes, slightly engaging the knees, and lifting the hips helped eliminate wrinkles where the white tights meet the boots, creating an elongated silhouette. Props were also essential: the folding fan not only framed the face nicely but also kept arm poses from looking stiff. The shots of us leaning together on the stone bench were candid moments captured while taking a break—they really showed our chemistry, as we know each other so well that a single glance was enough to coordinate.

In post-processing, the main focus was balancing highlights and shadows. The goal was to preserve the fine texture of the white tights and boots while keeping the surrounding greenery and wooden structures clear and airy. I gently warmed up the color palette, which not only highlighted the floral embroidery on the garments but also gave the garden setting a nostalgic film-like quality. When shooting anime content infused with traditional Chinese aesthetics, the biggest risk is looking too rigid. When looking out by the wooden railing alongside Kotori and Rin, we intentionally shifted our center of gravity for a relaxed, effortless pose. Although the skirt consists of multiple layers, it caught the outdoor breeze beautifully, adding a dynamic sense of motion. We also experimented with low-angle shots, which made the legs look exceptionally long.

We invested substantial effort into hair and makeup as well, matching the respective character hair colors and ornaments to seamlessly blend the 2D aesthetic into the classical landscape without looking out of place. Most of these photos are virtually raw camera outputs with minimal adjustments, preserving the authentic lighting of the day. Since the shoot took place across several sessions, we captured plenty of fun behind-the-scenes moments. While organizing the files, I decided to share this favorite set of duo interactions. Every detail—from the patterns on the fabric and the metal buckles on the boots to the texture of the folding fan—was carefully adjusted on location. This was far more than just dress-up; it was a thoughtfully planned visual project. Looking back, the costume design harmonized wonderfully with the garden scenery, making the vibrant outfits pop strikingly against the deep green background.
