I finally got to wear Patchouli's purple style outfit at this convention! The layers of ruffles on the hat and skirt hem paired with the half-frame glasses gave an overall accuracy that I'm quite satisfied with. The wig chosen is a taro purple with a gradient feel. Paired with light-colored contacts, I wanted to stay as close as possible to the character's original witch temperament of being "unathletic yet full of wisdom." Regarding props, besides this vintage dark red small leather suitcase, I also specially prepared a mini ancient tome; holding it in hand made the character's identity instantly click.

The outdoor light was exceptionally soft on the day of the shoot. The photographer, Akiyama Aogin, chose a venue at the intersection of a green belt and an architectural corridor, which not only avoided the crowds but also utilized the natural background layers to beautifully elevate the grayish-purple tones of the outfit. The fabric of this costume has a slight mercerized sheen, and there are many strap details on the cuffs and waistband. Coordinated together, it did take a bit of time, but the resulting convention photos were completely worth it.

As a classic character from Touhou Project, Patchouli's casual vibe is actually perfect for this kind of outdoor cosplay photography scene at an anime convention. Just a few small movements like holding a book, carrying a suitcase, and adjusting the glasses can beautifully convey the character's static temperament. Every time I do cosplay, I want to try breaking through on some details. This time, I specially emphasized the softness of the eyeliner in the makeup look, combined with a light touch of blush, giving the overall look more of a 2D realistic feel. There wasn't any over-processing or heavy editing in post, preserving the original light, shadow, and hair strand texture, hoping to present a natural and fresh atmosphere. It's been a long time since I cosplayed a Touhou character, and putting on this costume again truly brings back a warm sense of familiarity.
