Today, we wrapped up this set for Cirno cosplay at Miku Studio, and the final results exceeded all my expectations. The inspiration for this shoot was genuinely simple: I wanted to weave together the motifs of sunflowers, oil paintings, and the mischievous ice fairy from Touhou Project.
The studio was arranged with a rustic wooden easel holding an oil painting of sunflowers with rich, saturated colors. Holding a paintbrush in hand, I sat atop a clean white counter; to harmonize with the art studio atmosphere, my poses primarily revolved around painting and showcasing the artwork. The icy crystal wings on my back caught the studio lights, refracting delicate glints of brilliance that resonated beautifully with the blue dress.
This costume is packed with intricate details. The sailor collar and the large navy ribbon bow serve as the visual centerpiece, while the flared bell sleeves feature a subtly sheer fabric dotted with fine shimmer, shifting luster with every gesture. The skirt is a tiered, pleated construction alternating blue and white; to maintain its crisp flare, I wore a petticoat underneath. For legwear, pairing White stockings with classic black leather shoes kept things timeless without distracting from the costume's focal points. The wig was trimmed into a rounded, soft bob, and paired with pointed fairy ears, instantly evoking the fantastical atmosphere of Gensokyo.
During the shoot, to blend with the painterly atelier vibe, the photographer utilized soft side-lighting that illuminated the painted sunflowers with vivid warmth. As I struck diverse poses with the paintbrush, I was constantly thinking about how to breathe dynamic life into static photos. For instance, in the shot where I held the brush close to my cheek with my head tilted, my gaze aimed to channel Cirno's playful confidence and lively spark. For the seated counter shot, beyond flattering leg lines, I had to ensure the folds of the skirt cascaded naturally without blocking the easel props behind me. The color palette was remarkably cohesive—the vivid clash of blue, white, and golden-yellow granted the frame a clean yet nostalgically vintage aesthetic.
The tactile quality of the paintbrush and canvas boards added tremendous narrative depth, especially in the shot beside the easel holding a blank board, evoking a moment of sketching out a new masterpiece. Because the costume is quite ornate, I kept the makeup intentionally fresh and clean, highlighting blue colored contacts paired with the light-blue wig so my face remained the focal anchor amidst the detailed backdrop.
The entire shoot went effortlessly, with the lighting and set aligning seamlessly with my creative vision. In posing, beyond standard standing shots, I explored different leg angles while seated, leveraging the contrast between White stockings and black shoes to elongate proportions visually. Bringing this concept to fruition step by step in this Art studio photoshoot was deeply rewarding, marking a thoroughly delightful creative journey in Touhou Project Cirno cosplay and Anime-style photography.
