This share features a set of photos from an Outdoor shoot of Kero-chan from Touhou Project, with the core theme aiming to capture the natural feel deep in the woods, beside rocks and pond waters. The overall color scheme of the outfit is dominated by white and light purple, paired with dark suspenders and golden ring accessories, giving a concrete realization to the character's original "native god" temperament in 2D style.

As for props, lotus leaves and long-stemmed plants were specially selected for pairing. Since in an Outdoor shoot, using only indoor props can easily feel disconnected from the surroundings, lotus leaf elements help build a great connection between the character and nature. Particularly, the golden ring provides a firm geometric line in the frame, creating a nice visual contrast with the irregular rocks and leaves. Unlike indoor studio shoots, shifting outdoor light and shadow tests our ability to capture moments on site, requiring good utilization of natural light direction to avoid lighting flaws or ruined texture.

Both standing and sitting compositions were attempted, and the sitting posture presented this time emphasizes showing a naturally relaxed state of the character. Rested chin on hand or holding a lotus stem—these gestures retain the character's dignity while expressing a lively closeness to nature. Beyond basic bangs and sideburns, wig styling used wax to secure the side red highlighted hair strands to prevent outdoor wind from completely messing them up. Wig smoothness and airiness are key elements that cannot be overlooked in any Outdoor shoot, directly determining the head's detailed visual quality in 2D imagery.

Lighting during shooting was crucial. An Outdoor shoot fears harsh overhead light or direct blazing sun the most, which easily causes harsh facial shadows and loses the layer details of outfit ruffles. We specifically picked a location in the woods with soft diffuse light so the entire image presents a very soft texture, making skin tones look translucent. To keep the background cleaner, a wide aperture was used to blur distant water surface light spots into soft circular bokeh halos, highlighting the main subject while giving the composition's layered depth room to breathe.

The outfit itself contains rich layered details, with extensive splicing of white and purple fabrics; the pleats on cuffs and skirt hem required careful tidying to capture a light, flowy effect. The combination of White stockings and black shoes balanced the overall visual center of gravity, avoiding a plain look from all-white while adding a grounded anchoring point. Pose ranges needed careful control during filming to prevent large movements from disheveling the wig and skirt; in this set, I mostly adopted a semi-seated, semi-leaning posture to maximize costume flatness while presenting a crisp, vibrant demeanor without looking heavy.

Overall, this Kero-chan cosplay Outdoor shoot from Touhou Project preserved the character's original fantasy-colored traits while blending in a realistic style through the natural environment. Although an Outdoor shoot can be exhausting—fighting off mosquitoes and maintaining expression stability under bright light—seeing these colors and shadows in the final photos made the entire process worthwhile. Especially wearing this intricate outfit, feeling that small frog vitality of "undefeated by rain or wind" amid sound of flowing water and gentle breeze was a uniquely meaningful emotional reward beyond filming. The joy of organizing costumes and props, along with the visual feedback of the final photos, can only be truly appreciated by participating in a 2D shoot yourself.
