Partnering with Hayakawa Sengui to capture this finished photoshoot of Honkai: Star Rail's big and little Cyrene, the crux of our pre-production prep focused almost entirely on costume fidelity. The halo-like circular headpiece and cascading pearl chains on big Cyrene's back shifted easily during movement; to keep them poised and secure during takes, we reinforced the interior rigging with hidden snap fasteners and monofilament line. Little Cyrene's long violet mantle carries a gorgeous fluid drape, yet the tiered ruffles of the skirt demanded continuous smoothing to preserve that airy, weightless aesthetic.

To complement the styling, the photography crew constructed a studio set featuring church rose windows and classical Roman pillars, layered with lavish drapes of violet, azure, and pastel pink gossamer paired with lush floral arrangements. Light diffusing through the sheer drapery produced an organic, soft-focus luminescence. On set, our choreography centered around an antique grimoire. One composition featured us reading together with lowered gazes—I leaned forward from behind to guide her hands, a pose that required holding an awkwardly strained posture to keep the layered depth intact. Several reclining shots on the elevated dais demanded fine control over intertwined hands and gaze angles, all while being vigilant not to crush the delicate headpieces.

Wig styling also took extensive experimentation. Both pink wigs were trimmed with an emphasis on airy, feathered volume, harmonizing with soft pink-toned eyeshadow and refined eye makeup to retain crystalline clarity under bright studio strobes. Hayakawa Sengui was in fantastic form; our on-set chemistry flowed naturally, allowing us to find the right angles swiftly whether seated side-by-side or standing to showcase the silhouettes.

Wearing such complex, multi-layered attire certainly constrained our mobility on the day of the shoot, especially coordinating the flowing floor-length hemlines with strappy gladiator-style sandals where every step had to be carefully measured. Yet seeing the monitor reveal backlit, luminous chiaroscuro, crisp runic script prints along the cuffs, and the white vine filigree tracing the Stockings made every tedious hurdle worthwhile. From initial concept to final frames, this set fully realized our artistic vision for these characters.
