[Hoshimi Miyabi cosplay] Zenless Zone Zero: Blade-Drawing Moments of Hollow Special Operations Section 6

Today's photoshoot for Hoshimi Miyabi cosplay aimed to express her stern composure and decisiveness as the Section Chief of Hollow Special Operations Section 6. Before cosplaying this character, I carefully studied her costume structure. The bright blue coat is visually striking, but its color-blocked design combined with various black tactical straps made putting it on genuinely complex—especially the H.A.D identification badge on the chest, where the position of every strap had to be adjusted repeatedly to ensure nothing looked slack or loose on camera. To match the character's imposing aura, I also did plenty of homework on the footwear and leg armor details to guarantee complete visual fidelity in this Role-playing game presentation.

For the wig, I did black-and-white highlights, trimming the straight bangs and sidelocks cleanly and sharply. To recreate the character's piercing gaze, eye makeup accentuated the eyeliner shape, paired with red contact lenses; layered shading was vital to make her project an uncompromising yet steadfast resolve. In lighting, the photographer used hard key lights to emphasize the character's silhouette and mechanical textures on the uniform. Staged against a clean, pale grayish-white backdrop, reflector bounce boards made the sheen of the blue jacket and silver blade edge pop vividly. The prop katana was the central focus of preparation: the blade received a gradient blue paint finish, while the junction between hilt and scabbard integrated orange and gray mechanical parts. Though noticeably heavy, wielding it to strike poses offered immense immersion.

During shooting, I tried to make my movements broader and more dynamic. The first shot was a side-profile stance holding the blade, where the jacket billowing in the wind created strong dynamic tension. The second was an intimate close-up, where I aimed to convey her steadfast adherence to discipline and unwavering principle through my gaze. Pairing dual blades with tactical gloves made the overall ensemble even more cohesive. Throughout the shoot, I realized this blend of sci-fi aesthetics and traditional swordsmanship demands high physical strength and body control. From the fabric textures to prop finishing, every link required thorough preparation. Wearing armor and holding heavy swords for hours was physically draining, but seeing how seamlessly the blue-gleaming blade harmonized with her cool, aloof presence in the final edits made all the effort feel completely worthwhile in this 2D tribute.

The canonical setting of Hollow Special Operations Section 6 inherently embodies a strict sense of order. When designing poses, I steered clear of overly graceful or soft gestures, opting instead for crisp, decisive postures—a slight head tilt, dropping the shoulders, or grasping the hilt firmly with both hands. In the clothing details, I intentionally tightened the necktie firmly and kept the shirt collar flat and neat to emphasize her rigorous devotion to rules. From pre-production to wrap, the whole crew strove to recreate this world combining mecha aesthetics with martial arts. While photos are static, in those split seconds, I truly felt that commanding sense of justice, where virtue and vice are clear and the law maintains its balance. This was not merely replicating an appearance, but experiencing the character's inner logic.
