Checking in at the World Line Comic Convention today with Hsin cosplay from Wuthering Waves, the completion level of this styling was a delightful surprise even to myself. The red outer robe was crafted from satin fabric with a metallic luster, offering a great drape so that the hem naturally rippled in fluid waves with my movement. Underneath, I paired it with a black inner top and white shorts, adding a pair of arm sleeves edged with black-and-white stripes to keep the overall color palette from looking too monotonous.
For the wig, I selected long wavy hair in light silver-purple, cut with layered dimensions and wisps framing the face to sculpt my facial contour. Fitting the fox spirit Kemonomimi girl setting, a pair of black-and-white gradient plush animal ears rested atop my head, accented in the center with golden blossoms and red beaded hairpins. Makeup focused heavily on the eyes: because the red colored contacts were highly saturated, I chose matte red eyeshadow in the same tonal range but slightly darker to prevent the colors from being overly stark. A red crest was painted dead-center on my forehead, set with loose translucent powder to avoid glare under sunlight, paired with a deeper red lip color. The multiple large white plush tails trailing behind were quite voluminous; to keep them fluffy and organic before the camera, I spent considerable time brushing and grooming them before shooting.
This shoot was set on the outdoor lawn with ample natural daylight, where the blue sky and white clouds served as a clean backdrop that made the red, white, and black colors of the costume pop. During shooting, I didn't force stiff poses, mostly opting to turn sideways looking back over my shoulder or flashing a V-sign at the lens, granting the composition more breathability. When photographing such strong textural contrast between plush fur and smooth satin, a three-quarter side angle beautifully showcased the waistline and leg contours—accented by Black stockings—while bringing out the graceful curve of the tails. The expo's grassy lawn was somewhat uneven, so I tested my footing several times to ensure the hem and tails fell in their ideal spots. The gentle breeze under the sunshine turned out to be a great bonus; when the wind ruffled the fur on the tails, the photographer captured several wonderfully candid and natural frames.
Hsin inherently exudes an agile yet enigmatic aura, so in terms of expression management, I sought to convey a faint, subtle sense of distance through my gaze, while keeping physical movements relaxed and spontaneous. This Hsin cosplay styling achieved a stellar balance between fabric textures and plush elements, resulting in an overall effect that captures the seductive allure of a mythical fox while preserving the youthful playfulness of a Kemonomimi girl. Preparing this cosplay certainly required tremendous dedication—from wig setting to verifying every accessory across the outfit, each step demanded patience. Being able to successfully showcase my best state at the convention and deliver these Convention photos makes me incredibly happy.
