This time I took on Jahoda from Genshin Impact (Jahoda cosplay), crafting the entire outfit from scratch by hand. Because there were no ready-made patterns available, pattern-making in the early stages consumed a considerable amount of time. For the primary material, I chose a black reflective fabric; while its visual effect aligns closely with the character, it slips quite easily while sewing, demanding high precision with stitching. To ensure a snug fit on the body, I made multiple waist-cinching adjustments at the back, hoping to faithfully capture that sleek, capable, form-fitting silhouette.

The accessories adorning the outfit were another major challenge during fabrication. For the oversized orange beads strung around the neck, the plain beads I initially purchased were too pale, so I layered acrylic coatings step-by-step and finally inked the surface patterns with a black pen to achieve the current texture. The slender red cords draping across the chest and waist had to be paired with golden beads of various sizes and tassels at the bottom; combining them was what finally managed to recreate the official concept art. For the bronze metallic compass at the waist and the large bell hanging beneath it, I actually hollowed out parts of the interior to keep the weight manageable, while the distressed, weathered patina on the bell was painted on bit by bit using acrylic paint.

Headpiece details couldn't be overlooked either. I deliberately distressed and frayed the edges of the white hood to make it look weathered by wind and sun. The goggles on the forehead were modified by disassembling an old pair of sunglasses, with orange straps hand-sewn using store-bought ribbons. Trimming and styling the blonde wig was also a technical feat—because the character sports a thin side braid, the wig wefts couldn't simply be braided directly, requiring me to deconstruct the hair tracks and reshape them. Makeup-wise, I placed primary emphasis on sculpting the eye makeup, deepening the eyeshadow layers to elongate the eye shape, paired with reddish lips to closely match the character's demeanor in this Anime cosplay project.

For the shoot, I simply found a corner at home with even, balanced lighting. In the first photo, posing with one hand on my hip and flashing a peace sign with the other came from feeling relaxed right after putting on the finished outfit, as the overall look felt surprisingly cohesive and I wanted a livelier pose. The second photo tugging at the sleeve was mainly intended to showcase the transition details between the black glove and the white bandages along the arm directly to the camera. Since I don't shoot photos often, my camera presence is still developing, so the posing might look a little stiff.

To be completely honest, a Homemade cosplay costume cannot compare in fine details to professional commercial garments; some stitching is uneven, and the prop edges are a bit rough. Yet from sourcing materials to pattern drafting, and assembling every tiny component, the entire process gave me a much deeper appreciation for handicraft. Every time I finish styling and look at the final photos, those late nights spent sewing with glue-stained hands feel deeply meaningful. There is still plenty of room for improvement in this Marechaussee Hunter outfit; if time permits in the future, I think I'll refine and revise another version of these details.
