When selecting this light blue fairytale outfit for the shoot, what mattered most was its lightweight feel and dreamy sheen that seems to break the fourth wall. As Yao's Cinnamoroll's Dream skin from Honor of Kings, the costume's presentation under lighting far exceeded expectations. The top uses extensive holographic laser fabric; when hit by natural light or camera flashes, it automatically refracts a pink-and-blue gradient shimmer, which, paired with the delicate white high-collared frilled trim on the chest, offers visual depth without losing clarity. The lower skirt features a multi-layered panel design—the outer layer is fine-glitter transparent tulle, while the lining is laser-effect satin, topped with an ice-blue girdle and the iconic plush doll right in the center. Dressed in this complete outfit, it not only looks adorable but also feels beautifully voluminous as the skirt flares out while walking.
Because the shoot venue was an exhibition hall with giant floor-to-ceiling glass windows, abundant indoor natural light provided an excellent light source for the laser fabric skirt. During backlit shots, the edges of the tulle even radiated colorful halos, delivering a striking visual impact like built-in special effects. The custom blue magic wand in hand, though made of PVC, was finished very finely with a jelly-like glossy texture. Its unique top cloud design and curved lines, combined with draping blue-and-white gradient ribbons and subtle crystal beads, felt slightly heavy in hand yet looked effortlessly light in front of the lens, serving as the soul prop of this entire look.
Regarding hair and makeup, a light golden wig with straight bangs was chosen, featuring delicate side braids wrapped with light blue bows matching the costume. White plush pom-pom hair accessories on top and beside the cheeks increased 3D dimension while reinforcing soft, healing animal elements. To align with the overall cool and soft vibe, contact lenses with subtle blue rims were specifically chosen, and eye shadow was blended in ice blue to perfectly echo the costume tones. A gentle red lip stain was applied so that, surrounded by cool tones, the overall look remained lively and approachable.
The choice of focal lengths for this shoot was quite meticulous. To emphasize the prop's grandeur and visual tension, the photographer used a wide-angle lens in Photos 1, 10, and 12. The wide-angle perspective distortion exaggeratedly elongated the staff while making my leg lines appear sleeker—especially in Photo 10, where reaching toward the camera created intense foreground stretching, producing strong interactivity and immersive presence. Conversely, photos shot with standard focal lengths like Photos 4, 6, and 9 avoided distortion, recreating facial proportions and skirt textures faithfully to keep the overall aesthetic gentle and clean.
Paired with White over-the-knee socks and light blue block heels, the overall outfit achieves high completeness. When shooting Anime cosplay with transparency and heavy tulle elements, lighting angles and focal length choices directly dictate the final outcome. For posing, I tried lifting the skirt hem (Photos 6 and 11), tilting my head toward the camera (Photo 9), and standing naturally holding the staff (Photo 8). The key lies in the spatial geometry formed by arms and staff; if held straight down, the frame risks looking stiff. Adjusting the staff's angle slightly or using its trailing ribbons to break static lines makes the entire composition far more dynamic.
The greatest reward of this shoot was successfully transplanting this fairytale costume into real-world light and shadow. Although the hall had ample lighting, diffuse reflections from large windows acted as the most natural softbox, showcasing wig fluffiness and skirt sparkle without over-relying on artificial lights. For fellow cosplayers aiming for a similar style, laser fabric suffers most under overcast conditions; with abundant sunlight or strong indoor hall lighting, the hit rate for great Convention photos improves drastically. Overall, it was a deeply healing and enjoyable shoot experience—holding the staff steady and keeping poses natural communicates the character's unique purity and agility in this icy blue dream world.
