[Artoria Pendragon Cosplay] Summoned to Serve: The Knight of the Round Table in a Blue Dress

Shooting this Blue dress in a European manor was scheduled for a sunny afternoon, with sunlight filtering through leaves to cast a lovely natural sheen on the satin fabric. I put a lot of thought into the outfit to fit this theme. The overall look features a royal blue satin dress; the advantage of this material lies in its reflective texture under light, paired with black semi-sheer tulle and delicate black lace paneling on the upper body, providing rich dimension while accentuating skin tone. In particular, the black lace choker with a small metal pendant around the neck, combined with over-the-elbow black lace gloves, maximizes vintage elegance in the details while making the signature blonde hair pop even more.

The high-slit design of the dress was actually quite challenging for movement control. To balance modesty with aesthetics during the shoot, I repeatedly adjusted my center of gravity across leg movements and standing postures. But with the right angle and matching royal blue pointed high heels, it effectively elongated the visual proportions on camera, presenting a tall, confident posture. For the wig, I selected an ash-toned light blonde, trimming fluffy bangs and styling an updo at the back. The unique cowlick ("ahoge") on top is the soul of the character; I used setting spray to meticulously fix it so it maintained a natural, curved arch even in the breeze. For makeup, I kept it clean and translucent, paired with light-colored contact lenses to give the gaze a more steadfast look.

Two major props were prepared for this shoot. The first was the magnificent broadsword engraved with runes, which had a substantial weight to it. When swinging the sword or kneeling while holding it, controlling the force distribution in the arms was crucial; otherwise, it would look strained, ruining the composure of the battle stance. The other prop was a black ruffled parasol, which served as a wonderful color balance point in the frame. Opening the umbrella near the fountain or white stone pillars instantly shifted the atmosphere from combat readiness to serene leisure.

Photographer @Tansuan utilized the venue brilliantly. The shooting location itself is a classic European estate featuring neatly manicured geometric green hedges, grayish-white stone steps, white arched colonnades, and a multi-tiered stone fountain adorned with an angel statue. The natural tones of this architecture created a beautiful visual contrast with our blue-and-black outfit. He guided me through various compositions, such as full-body wide shots by the fountain and waist-up close-ups under the arched corridor.

To capture dynamic motion, we repeatedly practiced poses like looking back over the shoulder, kneeling with the sword, and raising the blade overhead. Executing these movements required careful attention to the sway of hair strands and natural hand-prop transitions, making sure formal posture didn't compromise fluidity. The final results made every hour spent on hair, makeup, and shooting completely worthwhile. The entire creative process was focused and gave me a deeper appreciation for expressing European-style character Roleplay.
