The mechanic of Kappa Heavy Industry is on-set! This location shoot theme was set at an abandoned heavy machinery factory in the suburbs. To present Kawashiro Nitori's sense of an Armored Girl who possesses both the playfulness of a kappa and a passion for heavy industry, I put a lot of effort into the outfit coordination. The inner white shirt features vintage lace trim, covered by a deep blue puff-sleeved jacket, and paired with complex black leather suspenders and metal chain decorations. The brownish-copper double-buckle wide leather belt and side belts cinch the layers together, and combined with that leather hat featuring goggles, the hardcore steampunk style atmosphere is instantly maximized.

The biggest challenge of this location shoot was combining actions with props. The huge metal wrench engraved with letters in my hand is heavily weighted; holding it provides a great grip feel while reinforcing the visual impact of a heavy-duty mechanic. To highlight the heroic spirit of the industrial girl, I chose to stand on the steps of a yellow engineering excavator and the rear of a white liquid tank truck for the composition. Whether shooting from a low angle or a high angle, I strove to display the strong contrast between heavy motorcycle boots and rough industrial machinery. My partner photographer @时崎夜刃 knows exactly how to capture the tension from the collision between cold, hard rust and delicate attire—whether it's the corroded iron drums, the red-and-white warning barricades, or the mottled yellow driver's cabin, they all became perfect backdrops to set off the character.

The lighting conditions on the day of the shoot were excellent; the blue sky and white clouds formed a sharp contrast with the dilapidated feel of the old industrial zone, giving the image high color saturation. The joy of a location shoot lies exactly in this kind of immersion within the environment. Climbing onto heavy machinery or crouching under truck chassis to adjust angles back and forth—though climbing up and down in thick leather boots consumed a massive amount of physical stamina—when the sunlight hit the metal wrench and bright-colored wig to generate a beautiful sheen, the sense of accomplishment from bringing a Touhou Project character into the real world naturally welled up.

Throughout this entire set of works, whether it's the stacked puffy white skirt hem or the hardcore decorative waist cincher, they are all trying to balance the two elements of "sweetness" and "machinery." What I want to convey is a down-to-earth sense of a girl who possesses both lively charm and the ability to carry a huge wrench to repair machinery. Different from conventional, meticulously crafted studio shoots, this kind of outdoor scene filled with an industrial wasteland photography vibe endows the character with a more authentic texture of real life, making people uncontrollably drawn to this atmosphere woven of ruggedness and refinement. Today's shoot was incredibly fulfilling; all the prop weight and the hard work of climbing were meant to ultimately present the industrial dream that stays closest to Kawashiro Nitori under the Touhou Project worldview. I hope this mechanical girl vibe I interpreted can make people feel the Kappa Heavy Industry spirit behind the character.
